In line with our recommendation
that a good rouds association bear-
ga 11Ized in this county, is the follow-
ing letter from W. H. Moore, presi-
dent of the National (lood Rouds as-
sociation to Jacob Amberg territorial
vice president for Lincoln county.
Mr. Amberg assures us that ho will
soon issue a call for meetings to be
held for the purpose of perfecting or-
ganizations not only in the county
but in oach township as well:
St. Louis, Oct. 31, 1803.
Cupt. Jacob Amberg,
Chandler, Oklahoma,
My dear sir:
In order to extend the work of the
National Good ltoads association and
secure general co-operatioa,the execu-
tive board has decided that county
organization shall be effected at tho
county seals by electing a president,
aocretury, treasurer and a vice presi-
dent from each township. The presi-
dent of the county organization shall
bo the vice president of the state as-
sociation from that county. . Each
county organization shall be composed
of not less than forty membra ami
each member shall pay twenty-live
cents This amount of *10 shall be
sent to the treasurer of the National
Good Roads association, C. II. Hut-
tig. Upon receipt of same a certifi-
cate of membership shall be issued oy
the national association to each as
sociation so organized. This will not
defray all expenses or the national
association but this method is adopted
on a co-operative basis to extend the
work into all sections of the United
States. The national association will
have to depend upon commercial
organizations and cities to raise suf-
ficient funds for operation. All local
associations will receive from time to
time literature concerning the progress
of the movement,' suggestions for
raising funds and nr ictical plans for
tho most approved methods of all
systems of road construction, also
our assistance in promoting local con-
ventions, ami copies of bills for local,
state and national legislative con-
sideration. To have these privileges,
no doubt, the supervisors of a large
number of counties will be glad to
donate *10 to this cause, as it will
educate them and systematize their
work, also make them credentialed
delegates to the state and national
conventions.
