MOVING RAPIDLY
Our big stock of clothing is moving so fast we are astonished,
but the reason for such is explained in the fact that the people Of
El Reno and vicinity know big values when they see them. The
reason is plainly seen when you look over the prices below:

How Diphtheria Is Contracted
One often hears the expression.
•'My child caught a severe cold
which developed Into diphtheria,"
when the truth was that the cold had
simply left the little one particular-
ly susceptible 'to the wandering diph-
theria germ. When Chamberlain's
Cough Remedy is given it quickly
cures the cold and lessens the dan-
ger of diphtheria or any other germ
disease being contracted. Por sale

•raft in Gsrmsn Prisons.
In Cologne. Germany, at s rerent
court trial. It was asserted that as
■oob as a well-dressed prisoner appear-
ed In the prison he was In-set with
attentions from the wardens, all eager
for his patronage. Their object was
to art as middlemen between hint and
his relatives. They would convey let
ters, money and food, and for these
sendees receive their reward from
ths relatives of the prisoners.
On* Girl Had Had Enough of CsnOQf
ious Remarks.
‘‘I didn't think you'd get ao angry
because I said I thought you ought to
wear gray suede shoes with your gray
dress instead of white ones. I didn't
mean to offend you,” her friend very
sweetly apologized. "Never mind,"
she returned softly. "It was ail right,
but it made me angry for two rea-
sons. First, because I had to wear
the white shoes because I didn't hava
any others that were presentable, and,
secondly, because when I left my
family of sisters, whp made every pos-
sible sort of comment on my clothes,
I declared I would never stand it from
anybody else. I said tq myself that
whenever a friend got so friendly that
ahe thought she could treat me Ilk*
a sister I'd shake her."
Worship the Cow.
In tho Nllglrl hills of southern India
there dwells a race of men, the Todns,
who devote the whole of their career
to tho worship of the cow or, to bo
precise, of the buffalo. Their moat
sacred temple la a cow house, sad
the whole life of the people la gov-
erned by the most rigid observance
of the routine of dairy work, every de-
tail of which la performed with tho
most elaborate ritual. They alone eta
perform the duties of milking and bat-
ter making who have been duly conse-
crated for this work by fasting and
the performance of mysterious rites.
Representing the only priesthood,
they are compelled after their Initia-
tion for the rest of their days to play
the role of the dairyman. The lesser
priests may marry, but the high priest
must be celibate, at least for a given
period of years. Polyandry is the fam-
ily rule, but, divorce Is unknown.

FAMILY ('AUKS
Saved by His Nerve.
While partridge shooting a sports
man suddenly had hundreds of wasps
settle upon him They crawled upon
his hands and face, but he kept his
nerve and did not Interfere with them
The wasps scared the sportsman's
friends, and they got some distance
away, being afraid to go near him.
After about ten minutes the wasps
flew off In a body without having
etuag him.
Never Go Empty Handsd.
| "That is wliat mother used to say to
me many times when I was a child. If
I was going upstairs. 1 must look
about me and see if there wasn't some-
thing downstairs that belonged up-
stairs that I could carry up and put
Into Its place; and so on from one
j part of the house to another. She al-
i ways said it would be a great help In
one's housekeeping and save lots of
unnecessary steps. If people would
just remember that little rule, and al-
though I fail in many ways to prac-
tice ail the good things she taught me,
I very often And myself saving to ths
children as they help about the houss:
'Never go empty handed.’"
Landacsr a Nature Faker.
An Kuglish reviewer gravely as-
sures us that Landseer's famous paint-
ing, "Eagles Attacking Swans." is
based on an entirely false assump
tion. Eagles do not battle with swans
or other quarry. They strike or pounce
upon their prey and never descend to
vulgar brawling. This la s handsome
compliment to the eagle, but s sad
blow for art. |

A Family Puszl*.
Atkinson—The family seems to hs
somewhat mixed. Hughes—Yes, it is;
the woman Is the man's third wlfs,
and the man la the woman's second
husband; the baby is the child of the
woman's second husband by his third
wife, the twins are children of tht
man by his first wife, the girl with
red hair Is the woman's child by her
first husband, the boy with the short
trousers Is the son of the man by his
second wife, and that tittle girl stand-
ing over there by the woman's second
husband is another of the woman's
children by her first husband.—Life.
The Descent of Avernu*.
When a man has two sets of morals,
one for business and politics and tho
other for private and social life, we
may be sure that it will nor be long
before he has hut one. ami it will he
the worse of the two.—Brooklyn

Lost in the Telephone.
Henry Abraham has calculated tha
maximum effectiveness of the tele-
pone for a sound of given pitch and a
current of measured intensity. The
result shows that there is great room
for improvement in this respect. Not-
withstanding the apparent extrema
sensitiveness of the best telephones,
they are, after all, surprisingly inef-
fective. since they transmit to the ear
in the form of sound waves less than
a thousandth part of the energy re.
celved from the line.
