Several feet of the brick cor-
nice fell from the Schlitz build-
ing, corner Wade street and
Bickford avenue, yesterday after-
noon and struck the street with a
tremendous crash. Two little
girls, Josie Krull and Ruth
Hitchcock, narrowly escaped be-
ing struck by the mass of brick.
They had gotten only afew feet
beyond when the crash came.
The accident should serve as a
warning to builders and contract-
ors to put up guards along the
sidewalks where building are be-
ing constructed. This suggestion
if fol owed may prevent damage,
and possibly loss of life.
