Mulhall's first newspaper was the
Alfred Monitor. Its publication b -
gun in April 1S90. Ed K. Watts was
tlm first editor and hailed from Wes-
tern Kansas. It is not remembered
by any one how long the paper lived.
In January, 1N93, I. II. Scarr hum-
<du‘d the Mulhall Ent erpriso. Mr
Scarr was principal of the school and
his newspaper office was in a frame
building which stood where Mrs. W.
G. Oalmbaeh’s general store now is.
In a few years he moved his print
shop to the stone building at present

several years.

finally became the property of W. H.

Mar hall and launched the Marshall
Tribune*, this being the second Mill !
hall newspaper to start a paper at
that place.
Tom B. Woosley who had gotten toi
he postmaster began the publication
of the Mulhall State Journal, Dec. 19,
3022. In a few years he bought out |
A. B. Wood, thus becoming owner of
the Enterprise the second time. The
pernors merged and continued publi-
cation under the nam* of the Mulhall
State Journal and fs with us to this
day. Mr. Woosley disposed of the
paper to Fin'd Norman who in turn
sold to the present proprietor, R. T
