Itettllyl Now isn’t it surprising
that the stsid old Washington Post
should be guilty of expounding such
shamefully socialistic doctrines? Can
it be possible that the Post has dis-
covered that the wage-earning class
are not in a stale of “notable pros-
perity” and that the law of supply and
demand does not regulate the price of
commodities? A,great awakening
light in some strange manner must
have penetrated the dense fog of
economic ignorance in which the ed-
itor’s brain was enwrapped and
actually sprouted a real live thought.
It is very cruel, however, for him to
rudely suggest that the patient, long-
suffering American workingman may
actually grow tired of being shorn by
the benefit of the worthy gentlemen
who control the trusts, and these com-
mon, vulgar workingmen may really
take the wild notion some day to do
something instead of leaving the cor-
rection of the trusts to the “Big
Stick" and the trust magnates who
make up the cabinet, the senate and
the house. These worthy gentlemeu
a--e unused io such radical expres-
sions and it may have an unpleasant
effect. ___________

take' Taken oue with another, there
are as many virtuous gills who wear
a waitress apron as among any other
class of working girls, or society
girls either for that matter. You will
find thrice the immorality in a great
department store that you will find in
a great restaurant.
As a class they are man haters
from the very nature of things. If
there is a ty gne on earth that knows
the mean and despicable side of a
man’s nature it is a waitress. I don’t
know why it is, unless it is a survival
of the lime when a man’s favorite slave
brought his food and then danced be-
fore him while he ate; but every man,
no matter how deep the veneer of cul-
ture, feels it his sacred right to be
condescendingly insulting to the
womati who brings his food. So in-
grafted is this trait in the masculine
nature that you will tied it cropping
out even at church fairs and socials,
where every man knows the girl who
waits upon him is his social equal or

Temptations of course beset her on

social outcasts, no man respects them
and they have nothing to loss; men
have made them haters of the world
and haters of mankind; pursued ever
as rightful prey, they turn sometimes
like hunted animals and become ver-
