Fossen of Los Angeles California,
and Mr. Frank Van Fossen of
Long Beach Cal. and eleven grand

Mrs. Van Fossen were among the
very early settlers of this country
and passed through all the exper

enjoy the fruits of their early
stiuggles. Dr. Van Fossen died
nine years ago. Mrs. Van Fossen

church of this place iu 1863 t
charter member and for all the
forty seven years since, had re
tnained a most loyal and faithful
member of that, society, living
life in harmony with her Christian
profession. To her were added
long yea's, a large measure of
health, and children to the third
generation, to call her blessed.
After so long a life, death came as
no hardship and she met the com-
ing of the messenger in the firm
faith of a new and better life Her
ancestry 1ms been traced back to
John Knox, the great Scottish re-
forner who made not only Scot land
but all the world feel the power of
his religious zeal. She was also
related to the family of James K
Polk. The funeral services were
held last Sa’urday afternoon at
the late residence and her body
was laid at rest by the side of her
husband, and to those from whom
she has gone is left the belief that
a laicre and fuller life awaits the
soul that passed from the house of
clay to- the house not built bv
