Miss Constance Wolcott entertained
the youuger young people last night
in honor of Miss Florence Bishop of
Kendrick who has been her guest this
week.
Miss Florence attended school here
several years ago and an effort was
made to have as many as possible of
her old school mates present.
Grain market was the diversion of
the evening.
The prizes were won by Glenn Fa-
gaines and Stella Mitchell. The first
was a passe partout picture of a little
colored boy, the second a very pretty
crystal rose vase.
Delicate refreshments were served
consisting of water melon, pineapple
ice and wafers.
Misses Von Gonten and Berry and
Miss Jo Wolcott assisted in enter-
taining.
In addition to these three ladies
and the hostess and honoree those entered Pomeroy’s neck on the right

came to this city from Omaha. Neb.
“The negro wus drunk and became!
boisterous and while drinking in the
wine room ut the rear of the saloon
was ordered out by the barkeeper.
He said he would go as soon as he
finished drinking a bottle of beer, but
a man who heard the colloquy said
the negro’s tone and manner did not
indicate that he intended going out at
all.
“Some moments later the barkeeper
started back to the wine room, sup-
I posed I y to get the glasses and bottles,
when just as he got inside the wine
room two- shots were fired in quick
succession, and the barkeeper came
reeling out into the suloon and then
out In froDt, and throwing up his
hands, exclaimed:
“‘I am shot and believe I am
dying. ’
“Bystanders caught him and carried
him upstairs and placed him un a bed
and a physician was called.
