morning from Shidler.
S. E. Marshall had the misfor-
f une to receive a badly injuaed
ankle while working fit the gin
Saturday. He was taken to
Guthrie Tuesday and the x-ra$*
showed a broken bone in his heel,
making a rather bad injury.
The editor and family motor-
ed to Stillwater Sunday after-
noon.
Mrs. Hattie Wandell
home Saturday for the week-end
visit.
Frank Phillips underwent a
minor operation at Guthrie last
week.

J. G. McCall and Walter John-
son returned Thursday evening
from a trip to Shidler.
Mrs. S. C. Marshall left Mon-
day for a couple weeks visit at
her old home near Carthage, Mo.
Warren Gates and family came
down from thA 101 ranch last
week and are now living in Pleas-
ant Valley. They will move onto
the old homestead southwest of
catne’Covle as soon as they can get
possession and will again become
residents of 1 his locality. We
are always glad to have the old
timers return.
We overlooked to mention last
week that Vernon Swallow is
here from California looking
after some business matters of
the doctoi’s. As soon as his fath-
er is able to be out again, Ver-

Great Fire of London In 1666 Was the

The greatest fire in history was
the fire of London, which began in
the early morning of September 2,
1GGG, and continued until it had de-
stroyed 18,200 dwellings and ^ bad
left more than 100,000 persons
homeless.
It\ originated, apparently, in the
house a baker named Farynor,
whose house and shop stood in Pud-
ding lane, not far from Thames
street Farvnor was a person of
some distinction, since he served the
king.
