Payne county voters are well
satisfied with democratic populist
management in county affairs.
Taxes have been lessened under
their official woik and the pro-
ducer appreciates it. .
For county commissiones in
the 3d district, H. M. Diffen-
baugh is the man for the place.
He is a wholesould substantial
reasoner and one who knows the
needs of his people. A vote tor
him wrtt not be thrown away.
Kingfisher, Sept. 20. i904
To the. Publicist:
I wish to say a few words
through the Publicist to Mr.
Straughen.’s friends. Every place
we have gone we have met en-
couragement and good will. Re-
formers are glad that Mr. Straug-
en is running,, as it gives them
the opportunity to vote their
sentiments by voting fof the man
who represents the reform work
done during the past eight years.
Mr. Straughen made a good
and forceful speech and the peor
pie are pjeased with the man.. It
does not take them long to dis-
cover that he is a true, genuine
reformer and that he stands for
tfce best interests of Oklahoma.
Mr. Straughen was splendidly
received in- Greer, Matthews’
home county. The people of
Greer will give him a big vote.
The funny-campaign being made
by Matthews and his managers is
doing us good. They are filling
the county with private letters
begging the populists to support
Matthews. Such men as Dunn,
Neff and Matthews of Payne
county, are not populists. People
laugh at their sillv talk about
being such.
Straughen represents the peo-
ple’s party voters. Democrats
know it. Those who do not sup-
port Straughen are not populists.
Look out for them in future.
If we had had a weak man in-
stead of Straughen the enemy
would of had us. People’s party
supporters are proud of him. He
more nearly represents the Bryan
democrats than does Mathews.
He stand for reform. Mathews
stands for that which we have
tought for years.
We are making a clean, honest
campaign and the results will
last. The Straughen canvass is
in good shape We will poll a
largo vote. His Lincoln county
friends should give him a hearty
support. We look for it. He
will carry several countries.
Lincojn should be one of them.
Rest assured of one thing:
When we are done with this cam-
paign there will have been noth-
ing done of which any of us need
be ashamed. The advocates of
principle do not throw mud.
Respectfully.
F. W. Jacobs.
