Missionary Program
Mrs. W. H. Vaughn was leader of
a combined social service and "har-
vest day" program of St. Johns Meih
odist Missionary society in the church
parlors Thursday afternoon.
The program was opened hv siug-
Ing “Bringing in the Sheaves."
Mrs. Alva Williams reviewed the
fifth chapter of the studies in pio-
phesles.
Mrs. L. F. (leery led the devotion
als using for her theme “If Jesus |
(tame Today Would We Stand the
Tests of Following Him?"
Mrs. R. F. Jones in a short talk
likened our Missionary society to the
seasons of the year and said that
harvest day was a fitting close for
the year’s work.
Mrs. F. H. Morris gave an interest-
ing and helpful talk on "Our Church's
Duty to Our Children."
Mrs. R. H. Dennis gave some facts
concerning the child labor amend-1
ment in several states.
Captain Francis and her assistant
of the Salvation Army were special
guests and told of the splendid work
they are doing among the needy of
El Reno.
The work they have accomplished
the half year they have been with us
is praiseworthy and they deserve the
hearty cooperation of all El Reno
citizens.
The Missionary society made a con
trihution of needed supplies to the
Army workers through the social ser-
vice department.
The program was closed with pray-
er by Captain Francis.

The Missionary society of the First
Christian church met in the basement
of tiie church Tuesday. Dec. 7, when
Mrs. Frank Meadows and Mrs. Will.
Slaughter opened the meeting and
conducted the devotionals and busi-
ness meeting. Mrs. Sam Wallace
leader of the north division took
charge of the meeting, while Mrs
Del’oister conducted the questions
with the hidden answers. The north
division in a splendid manner gave
an appropriate play, "Showers." Mi s
Russell McClain also assisted with
several vocal selections, witli Mrs.
Cecil Dross at the piano. At the close
of the meeting refreshments were
served by Santa Claus.
