A SMALL MAN’S INVENTION
(Toledo Blade.)
«The unhealthy mind loves a griev-
ance. Some people actually lake
more pleasure in a grievan e than
in a good turn.
They love to dwell 0n their hard
usage. They are the pets of mar-
tyrdom.
They bask in the thought of
venge some day.
Somebody said once that revenue
made u little right a great wrong.
It was well said.
Revenge and the thought of re

mean, second-rate minds.

CALUMET not only goss further because you
use less than you would of most other brands,
but it actually makes more biscuits because it
helps to dissolve more liquid. Just think of it!
The baking powder used in each baking costs
but a small fraction of a cent. So use Calumet
and have the best. There’s absolutely no rea-
son for buying the cheap or big can powders.

Every ingredient that goes into it is extra dry.
For instance, the dried white of egg which is
used is so concentrated that it requires 14
pounds (10 dozen average sized) fresh hen’s
eggs to make 1 pound or dried white of egg,
or in other words, 7 pounds of the fresh whites
to make 1 pound of dried white of egg. You
can use less flour and still get your regular
amount of biscuits—and better biscuits at that!
Try this recipe, and see
how delicious they are!
, CALUMET BISCUITS
4 cups flour 1V4 cups milk
4 level tablespoons butter or lard
4 level teaspoons Calumet Baking Powder
1 level teaspoon salt
Sift flour once, then measure, r.dd salt and
baking powder and sift three times, rub
shortening in with fork or spoon, add milk,
mix lightly, turn out on a well-floured board
and roll or pat one inch thick, cut and bake
in quick oven (450°F) 15 to 17 minutes.
