CIRCUS IS COMIN'
A prize assortment of trained wild
animals distinguishes the Hagenbeck-
Waltace circus, which will exhibit iu
the city on Friday, September 4.
| There are trained lions, tigers, pu-
mas. panthers, leopards, hrowu bear*,
polar bears, seals, camela and ele-
phants. in some of the acts different
special' of wild animals are mixed to-
gether. thus provdining a unique and
fascinating display. There are ulso
boxing kangaroos and monkeys that ,
ride ponies with considerable non
chalance.
Of course there are clowns and t
horses in abundance. The ■ lephants, j
iu addition to their Juzr. and couch
dancing, ball playing and comedy acts,
have a really new stunt, inarching
parade in the guise of war veterans.
A fox hunt picturesquely enlists the
talents of a pack of hounds and a
fin** collection oi thoroughbred, high
jutnpiug horses. A live fox is in-
duced to run around the track and
the pack is off.

The clowns work hard and have a
bag of tricks much funnier than, and
different front the time-worn gags
which have been seen year after year
in circuses.
The opening pageant, which is a
gorgeously costumed lyrical spectacle,
is called "An>bia.” It embraces a cos-
tnopolitan procession which includes
Sioux Indians and native Australian ‘
dancers called "Kangaroosters.”
Then there are aerial artists, bare-
back riders and various other stand-
bys to help round out 'he perform-
ance. Hut the big and thrilling num-
bers are the trained wild animal acts.
