must all do what we can,-but our beet
efforts may, after all, be not ao much
right as rlght-tsh. It would be hard
enough to struggle In a world ta which
other people did not understand, but
ta which we at least ware sure we
were right; it Is infinitely harder t«
struggle, as many ef ue are doing now,
with a realization that our own un-
derstanding Is limited end faulty.

THE PUBLIC IS AL-
WAYS FAIR-MINDED
WHEN IT HAS THE
FACTS.
No. 3.
Because we firmly believe that the PUBLIC, ap well
ik» the individual, judges fairly when the facts are
known, wc are publishing this series of "STATE-
MENTS OK FACTS” concerning “The Revocable
Permit” bill recently passed by the legislature. Wc
sincerely hope that you will read every statement,
weigh it, verify it, if you wish, and THEN exercise
the judgment for which the AMERICAN CITIZEN
is credited throughout the entire universe.
"THE REVOCABLE PERMIT” bill is constructive
and is CALCULATED PRIMARILY TO BENEFIT
THE PUBLIC. If it were not, we ivould not only
be extremely foolish to publish this series of state-
ments, hut wc would offend you and your intelli-
gence as well.
In the long run, if such legislation benefits you and
the rest of the PUBLIC, it is a benefit to us. BUT
ONLY TO THE DEGREE YOU ARE BENE-
FITED.
We arc publishing these statements of facts for
THREE SPECIFIC REASONS:
1. Because you are entitled to them and have a di- ,
rect and personal interest in anything beneficial to
the public, but probably you know little about this
bill, have never read it and do not know’ its effect in
other states.
2. Because mis-information about the bill and its
effect has reached you from those who were unin-
formed or misinformed and honestly so.
3. Because those who sought to defeat this bill to
further political or other selfish ends, have made a
statement of PLAIN FACTS NECESSARY.
