the celebrant. The sermon was
preached by the Rt. Rev. Joseph G.
Anderson, D. D , the auxiliary Bishop
of the Boston diocese.

tourney 0f the recently formed West-
ern Roque Association, composed of
ten organized roque clubs in the
middle West began at Lincoln Park
today and continues until next Sat-
urday inclusive. The tournament
marks the first organized effort to
boom the sport In the middle West.
Instead of being a "sort of croquet"
roque is a highly scientific game,
requiring long and hard practice for
its mastery.

EVELYN THAW RETURNS.
New York, Aug. 4.—Despite the ef-
forts of the Thaw family to prevent
the step she is taking, Evelyn Nesbit
Tbaw, wife of Harry K. Thaw, who
is now in Matteawan Insane Asylum,
following several attempts to gain
acquittal for the murder of Stanford
White, returns to the stage tonight.
She will give a tango act at Ham-
merstein roof garden, accompaniedbjr
•Jack Clifford, a noted heel and toe
artist. The skit Is 12 minutes long
and it is said that Mrs. Thaw draws
the almost record salary of $4,000 a
week.

Boston, Mass., Aug. 5.—Boston wit-
nessed today one of the largest gath-
erings in its history with the open-
ing ot the thirty-first annual conven-
tion of the Supreme Council o fthe
Knights of Columbus. Delegates rep-
resenting lodges in all parts of the
t'nited States, Cuba, the Philippines,
Canada, Porto Rico and Mexico are
attending the meeting.
The first event in connection with
the convention will be the exempli-
fication of the fourth degree, which
will take place mis evening. A
street parade of the fourth degree
members will precede the exempli-
fication of the degree, which will be
under the direction of Supreme Mas-
ter John H. Redden, of Denver.
The demonstration will be the larg-
est and most 'mpressive that has
ever been made in the country un-
der the auspices of this branch of the

The Board of County Commissioners of Canadian County, Oklahoma,
met pursuant to adjournment for the purpose of considering the esti-
mate for the current expenses and the sinking fund of the county for
the ensuing year. After due deliberation it was decided to proceed no
further with the matter as laid over from the first Monday of July, and
that the same be referred to the County Judge and County Treasurer for
the purpose of ascertaining the condition of the various funds of the
county and devise some means of adjusting the estimate to meet the cir-
cumstances and general needs of the county.
Whereupon the board adjourned until Monday, July 21st, 1913.

The Board of County Commissioners of Canadian County, Oklahoma,
met pursuant to adjournment, but no delinite conclusion having been
arrived at, the board decided to await the final action of the State Board
of Equalization, aijd adjourned until Monday, July 28, 1913.

met pursuant to adjournment, but the County Judge and County Treas-
urer not having completed the county estimate, adjourned until Wed-
nesday, July 30, 1913.

met pursuant to adjournment, the estimate for the current expenses and
the sinking fund of the county having been completed, it was accepted
by said board wnd the county clerk was ordered to have the same pub-
