the Italian war office states that anti-
Italian riots broke out In Spalato and
other Adriatic coast towns during the

have reached an alarming stage, ac-
cording to Investigations made by the
Swedish medical board at the re-

deadlock by unofficial bipartisan ne-
gotiation have ended suddenly in fail-
ure and Democratic senate leaders be-
gan preparations to bring the treaty
back into the open senate for consid-
eration.

the Senate, It was announced that the
coalition of the Republican “irrecon-
cilables’’ and strong reservatlonlsts of
both parties could muster more than
sufficient strength to defeat the peace
treaty If the Lodge reservations were

pean countries totals approximately
325 million dollars, according to a
table submitted to the house ways and
means committee by the treasury de-
partment, which plans to defer collec-

regarding the extradition of German

Members of a boy scout troop were
having a knot-tying contest. The boys
in each team had a short piece of rope
and when the signal was given they 4
had to tie these together, pass on to
the leader, who then threw the fin-
ished rope out to a boy at a distance,
who was to represent a drowning boy.
The signal was given, the boys on a
both sides hurriedly tied their knots
and passed the finished rope to their
