Birthday Surprise
August 29th being Grandma
White’s 69th birthday, the chil-
dren gathered on the Sunday be-
fore for a surprise dinner.
Those present were: Mrs. Mag-
gie White and son, B. F. Har-
grave and family, Ray Henry
and family, Jonathan White and
family.
After a sumptious dinner ice-
cream and cake were served and
enjoyed by all present. Late in
the day all departed, wishing
Grandma many happy returns of
the day.
Several nice presents were re-
ceived.

Methodist Church Notes
By the Pastor
The Aid was pleasantly enter-
tained and served by E. A. Smi-
ley, last week.
Our next Quarterly Conference
will be held in Ralston in the af-
ternoon of September 19th.
Sunday School at the regular
hour. Preaching at 11:00 o’clock.
Subject, “Digging Again the Old
Wells,” Genesis26-18.
Mrs. Hunts will lead the Ep-
worth League next Sunday ev-
ening. The subject is, “My use
of the Bible.” Every one is in-
vited.
The pastor and wife spent last
week visiting in Hill Chapel com-
munity; and while there attend-
ed prayer meeting, Wednesday
night, and the Epworth League
social at Mr. Wells’, Friday ev-
ening. They are a meeting at
Belford, this week.
The Junior League was well
attended, last Tuesday evening.
The new feature of the League,
“The soteial committee” ir work-
ing fin*. The League being
pleasantly untertained by the
president, Miss Leota Krow, and
also by Miss Ruth Gott.
We are planning a week of
special services to begin on Sun-
day evening, September the 17th.
We will have different speakers
each evening and special music
with each number.' Among the
men we have for our program
are Pittenger, I pastor Guthrie
First Church, Rev. Draper, from
Fairfax, Dr. Case, our district
superintendent, Re/. Hickmar,
from Kaw, J. S. Peters, from
Pawnee, and Dr. Hislop, presi-
dent of our university at Guth-
rie. We think we have a splen-
did program arranged. There
will be sermons and lectures,
closing with decision day in the
Sunday School on September 24.
A complete program will appear
later.
