said town; and there is not that many
law breaker* in the town; and the man
who says he has well baec«d charges
against that many of its citizens is a
liar nnd a rogue.
J. W. Jordan and T. J.Mann. delegates
to the statehood convention held at
Perry, have returned. They made a
strong fight for two states. Our dele-
gates appear to understand that the
inainspr n : to power is now located in
the United States Senate, nnd perhaps it
may yet be corkscrewed into the heads
of Oklahoma democrats that our Cleve-
land delegates are right on the impor
taut queetion of statehood.
Some one seems to have taken except-
ions to the article which appeared in last
weeks issue, under the heading of “U. S.
Marshals a Nuisance,” ns wo received a
letter through the poetoftice informing
us that we had better not “get too swift"
nnd signed “a marshal." We do not
know who the gentleman (?) is. but our
natural supposition is that he is a whis-
ky |ieddler, a horse thief and a robber,
and has a comanssion as a United States
