Topeka, Sept. 14.—A dispatch from
Boston states that Lizzie Bell, who has
been wandering in the woods near
Lewiston Maine, for days, has been
found.
Miss Bell left Topeka last June with
the apostolic evangelist, W. F. Sand-
ford, to become a pupil of his Bible
school at Shiloh, Maine. A recent dis-
patch told how she had lost her mind
nnder the fervor of religious excite-
ment and had been wandering in the
woods for days with searching parties
out after her.
German Bonds In Amerlea.
New York, Sept IS.—No authorita-
tive information can be had in Wal
Street of negotiations for placing a
German government loan in New York
but the report finds general credence
because of the tacit admission that the
German government is seeking and
will likely succeed in borrowing 825,-
000,000 from New York, Chicago and
Milwaukee lenders, for which certainly
a part is to be paid for by gold ship-
ments. It is evident that a desire to
replenish the German stock of gold is
the motive of a direct negotiation.

To Arbitrate Sealers' Claim*.

seizure of their vessels by the Russian
government about six years ago, under

Railroads Are Storking up.
Chicago, Sept. 15 —Although bitu-
minous coal forms the greater part of
tho fuel used by railroads, mnny of
them are laying in heavy stocks of an-
thracite in anticipation of higher
prices following the Pennsylvania
miners' strike. The Michigan Central
has made a contract for 250,0(10 tons,
the largest order ever given at one
time in this country.
Negotiations Now l'oiwlble.
j Washington, Sept. 15. - Earnest ef-
forts are being made to arrange the
; preliminaries for the negotiations
which are expected to settle the Chi-
nese troubles. Li Hung Chang's last
message removed perhaps the last ob-
stacle to the speedy beginnin r of these
negotiations aud the only doubt that
now exists is as to his ability to re-
deem his pledge to protect American
interests and stop the outrages upon
the missionaries and native converts.
If he can thus man fest the existence
of a de faeto government there is no
doubt that negotiations will be imme-
diately in order.
Digging in the Itulns.
I Galveston, Sept. 17. — For miles along
the beach the stench at different points
is sickening. Everywhere little groups
of men, women and children, some of
them poorly provided with raiment,
j were digging in the ruins of their
| homes for what little household prop-
erty they could save. In many cases
those seeking their former residences
were utterly unable to lind a single
remnant of .them, so hopeless is the
confusion of timbers and household
furniture.

Chaffee's Course Still Uncertain.
London, Sept. 17.—The Russian le-
gation in I'ekiu, according toa'laku
special, is preparing to move to Tien
Tsin or to some other point, owing to
the difficulty of communicating with
the home authorities, (ieneral Chaffee
is preparing to make his troops com-
fortable for the winter. When asked
his opinion regarding the situation he
is reported to have answered: "It
would be better for the United States
troops to leave, but in auy event, the
Chinese Christians will be provided

American lllble House Sold.
New York, Sept. 17.—The old Bible
House at Fourth avenue and Ninth
street—home of the American Bible
society for nearly fifty years—is to be
sold and the great printing establish-
ment of the society probably will be
given up and the Bibles printed by
contract. This step has been made
necessary by the competition of the
Oxford and International Bible com-
panies in England.
Storm Reached England.
Boston, Sept. 15.—The now famous
West Indian hurricane, which started
ten days ago far to the eastward of
Puerto Rico, pushed across Cuba and
Jamaica and thrashed about the Gulf
of Mexico, has entered New England
and inhabitants in this corner of the
country have nearly a million dollars
to add to the lengthening list of losses
which this remarkable storm destroy-

Topeka, Sept. 13. Governor Stanley
has issued a proclamation calling upon
the people of Kansas to aid the Galves-

railroad companies in all parts of the
country, and relief is now beginning
to arrive at Galveston.

Every mother possesses information of vital value to her
young daughter. That daughter is a precious legacy, and
the responsibility for her future is largely in the hands of the
mother. The mysterious chang? that develop; the thought-

well-being of her daughter, bo will the wbman be, and her
children also.
When tho young girl's thoughts become sluggish, when
she experiences headaches, dizziness, faintness, and exhibits
an abnormal disposition to sleep, pains in the back and lower
limbs, eyes dim, desire for solitude, and a dislike for the
society of other girls, when she is a mystery to herself and
friends, then the mother should go to her aid promptly. At
such a time the greatest aid to nature is Lydia I'-. Pinlc-
