IMPORTANT UfcCOR CASE.
George M. Crosno made application for h-
censt u sell Inloxicat nj liquors in Wauk-

lered a remonstr nee. T:«e ca«e came-up
before the county commissioner? Monday.
Judge Burwell appearing for the remon-
strau-rsand Frank Purcell for tbe applicant
Judge Burwell entered a demurrer bussed on
tb" lacl i hat the oetit on did not specify tbe
ward in which the «aloon is to be located.
This demurrer overruled and the bearing
of the case pro«eed on its merits.
The attorney for the applicant contends
that Waukomis has never been divided into
wards and mat hs petition containing
tuirtby resident tax-payers of tne entire
town is sufficent.
The attorney for the remonstrators claim
that the town has been divid«Hl Into wards
an l thai the petition must contain thirty
names of resid«nt tax-payers otlhe ward ln
which the saloon is located.
The case occupied the attention of the
Con.missloneri for tne entire day and was
continued for further hearing next Friday.
lhe points ra sed ln this ca«e re thougUt
to be new and seem to b>i regarded as quit
important. Since It is contended that In cor
perated towns mast be divided Into three or
m >re wards and that this would render it
ditllcalt to etta n the rtquslte number of
signatures In any single ward of such towns
as Waukomis.
