BUTCHER WILL ANSWER NEW NAME FOR KATY
LAWTON MAN ARRESTED FOR
SELLING A HOG WHICH DIED
WITH THE CHOLERA.
Wholesale Trouble for Butchers Ex-
pected at the Comanche Capital
and Authorities are Aroused
Over Affair.
Lawton, Okla* Jan. 15.—Frank Sum-
mer, a wholesale butcher of Lawton,
A-as arrested yesterday charged with
having wilfully and unlawfully barter-
ed, "old and disposed of the carcass
of a swine, afflicted with cholera and
other infectious diseases at the time
of its deafh, to W. B. Willis, for the
purpose of having it sold out to the re-
tail trade in the city of Lawton. On
November 25 last, it is alleged that
Sumner sold to Willis, the proprietor
of the City meat market, a hog which
lied with the cholera.
Sumner had sold four live hogs and
placed them in his wagon to deliver.
"While en route one hog died. He had
Ills butcher, G. W. Willingham, g< t
l)ack into the wagon and bleed it.
Willingham alleges that the animal
1)led but little, and that the blood .was
as black as ink. Willingham refused
td skin the hog and Sumner secured
he services of Knox Harris to do the
work. The meat was sold to Willis,
who in turn retailed it to his custo-
mers.
Several other purchases were re-
turned to Willis and the balance spoil-
ed inside of eighteen hours.

Exit "Katy." Enter "The South-
west Route."
Having dropped the word "Katy"
as an advertising feature on account
of the unfavorable notoriety which it
received, the Missouri, Kansas and
Texas has adopted "The Southwest
Route" as a substitute. In all of the
1900 advertising of the M. K. & T.
"The Southwest Route" is prominent
and the name and fair face of "Katy"
have disappeared.
The management has recognized
the fact that it will be some time be-
fore the name can be familiarly ap-
plied to the "Katy" and will conduct
an extensive advertising campaign
Advertisements will appear in all if
the prominent eastern and northern
papers.
Iu adopting the new name, the M
K. & T. will at the same time boom
the southwest. Literature will be
printed telling of the southwest's re-
sources, and an effort will be made
to induce people to locate in this ter-
ritory.
Already the name is appearing here
and there in various papers, and with-
in a few months it will be common.
Are you waiting until every other

fore you buy that winter suit? If so
just think for a moment of whether
or not that is good business policy?
Are you so short-sighted about other
