Coalgate, I. T„ Oct. 26.—Editor of
The News: I notice by your paper
of the 22d that you have Coalgate in
the list of candidates for a county seat
in the separate statehood movement.
I have just had a conversation with
the chairman of the separate state-
hood club of Coalgate, and asked him
if he, or anyone else, had made appli-
cation to the superior election board
to have Coalgate placed upon the roll
for county seat honors. He Informed
me that no such requisition had been
made by anyone, nor did he make such
a request himself. Furthermore that,
as Coalgate was the Glbralter of joint
statehood, it would be impossible to
raise 100 cents, to say nothing about
the price which it takes to get on the
list for county seat honors, namely
$100.
The people of Coalgate and vicinity
will greatly appreciate it, if you will
deny this report as circulated by the
supreme election board. Coalgate has
not had anything to do with the sepa-
rate statehood movement in any way,
shape or form. We tool: a most prom-
inent part in the Oklahoma statehood
convention: in fact, the citizens of
Coalgate proceeded to Atoka, July 8th,
by special train, 1,180 strong, for the
purpose of selecting delegates and al-
ternates to attend the memorable sin-
gle statehood convention held in Okla-
homa City on July 12th.
Coalgate and vicinity are known to
be avowed joint staters and will ever
espouse the cause of joint statehood.
We do not intend to take any part
whatever In the Indian movement, or
rather, the separate statehood move-
ment. Single Stater.
The Best Doctor.
Rev. B. C. Horton, Sulphur Springs
Texas, writes July 19, 1899: "I have
used In my family Bal'.ard's Snow
Liniment and Horehound Syrup, and
they have proved certainly satisfac-
tory. The liniment is the best w
have ever used for headache and paiu.
The cough syrup has been our docte-
for the last eight years." 25c. 5ik

Back Again.
It is not often that the theater goers
of Shawnee have the opportunity of
seeing such a meritorious attraction as
The Beggar Prince Opera Co., and the
fact of their return engagement will
be heard with pleasure. Mr. Wade,
the leading comedian and proprietor,
is one of the most popular managers
in the business, and in the territory
where he is known his name is al-
most a household word. For eleven
years Mr. Wade and his "Beggar
Prince" have stood for all that is best
in comic opera, and he is as anxious
to establish himself as firmly in this
part of the west as he is where he is
so well known and where he has given
such universal satisfaction.
The Beggar Prince will be at the
opera house Monday, October 30.
