The Comet.
Have you seer, the comet? If n0-'
get up tomorrow morning at 4 -0
o'clock and look a little north of due
east a little between the horizon an
the zenith. The discoverer of this
comet had his name run through a
sausage mill when young and when it
came out it was Beljawski The
comet looks like a bright star with a
very dim. dazy tail. Astronomers
say the tail is split, but they fail to
state how it got split. We presume
it got tangled up with tne name of Ls
discoverer. That name would split a
sycamore log ! It is said that twelve
comets, most of them new, have been
discovered since January 1. If this
is true something is liable to happen,
Comets do not hang around and peep
over the rim of the universe at us for
nothing. If any of our readers dis
cover a comet prowling around in
their back yards we advise them to
catch it and tie a tin can to its tail
and then set the dog on it. It is
there for no good.

As We Journey On.
When we reach the place where i
measure of happiness is, we must not
overpass it, thinking we shall some
day return in fuller leisure. We
shall not overpass this way again,
and it we d d we could not find that
hidden place. Nor must we hasten
on with hot desire, deeming we stiail
reach some other spot cf more satis-
fying happiness further on down the
way. We may reach that place ai
the begining of the journey, while we
are still keen for the quest, or it may
be after toilsome years. But when-
ever be the time, it oehooves us to
pause and consider well the spot.
One finds cloistral retreat and place
of happiness in art or research, ill-
reward,unclaimed ; in perfect knowl-
edge ; in acheiving beauty. Anoth-
er finds it in one woman. Happiness
is found in the home, in devotion to
purposes larger than the individual
life, wherever there is space for the
heart to overspread other lives
There is refreshment in the majesty
and tenderness of the natural world
—in the turbulence of the sea, the
rapid light touching the waves, in the
plenty of autumnal harvests, in the
calm of infinite hills.--Collier s
