Oklahoma, bus sent the following letter
to the Southwestern Division, Ameri-
can Hc-d Cross:
"The activities of the Craig County
Chapter, extending Intu Delaware
County, Ok In., have been of great val-
ue. Mrs. Myra T. Karhnrt, executive
secretary of tin- Craig County Chapter,
accomplished more good for the Indian
soldiers tn the one day when she ex-
tended her work Into the ad. ug

day in Delaware County at my request
and, believe me. those ladles had no

Through more than two years of un-
winding of official red tape and other
efforts the Red Cross of Waco, Tex.,
has obtained compensation for per-
manent total disability and govern-
ment insurance for a veteran of the
World War. This soldier was wounded
In a peculiar way. A piece of shrapnel
which tore away the muscles of his
back and injured his vertebrae also ex-
ploded Ids cartridge belt, thus Inflicting
| un additional Injury which required
many operations and more than a year
In the hospital, most of the time lying
on his face.
The operations were not successful,
the shock and other contributing causes
caused heart trouble, all of>which have
made him a permanent Invalid.
Through an error In his record, this
soldier has been allotted only ?27 a
month nnd it required more than two
years to correct the error and obtain
for the man the compensation which
was bis due, as Weli as to obtain for
him and bis aged moth- r the Insurance
which also was coming to him.
