OBITUARY
Benjamin Franklin Strader was
born in the state of North Carolina,
on the 22nd day of February, 1836,
died at his home near Jones City,
October 28, 1914. Aged 78 years,
8 months and 6 days. The funeral
services were held at the M. E.
church in Jones City, Friday, Oc-
tober 30, Rev. H. L. Cloud officiat-
ing. Interment was made iu the
Odd Fellows’ cemetery.
When a young man, Mr. Strader
moved to Illinois, where he spent
most of his life. In 1863 he united
with the Odd Fellows’ "fraternity,
and remained a member until his
death, always taking great interest
iu the affairs of the order. He was
a charter member of the Jones City
Lodge which was instituted iu 1903.
A number of Odd Fellows’ from ad-
joining towns attended the funeral
services.
Mr. Strader was united in marri-
age when a young man to Mary
Smith, in Illinois, who died several
years before he came to Oklahoma.
After coming to Oklahoma he was
united in marriage to Jennie Gillett,
who survives him.
Deceased was a good man, and
many friends are left mourn his de-
parture.

Ohio, who had been here visiting his
son, S. C. Sheneman, and family,

Mrs. J. J. Cowden of Headrick,
who has been visiting here, went to
Depew Friday for a visit with
friends. She will return here before
going back to her home.

WOUNDED BIRD UPSETS BOAT

Nearly Causes Her Death by

Cold Spring, N. Y.—A maimed spar-
row, which fell upon Mrs. Floyd-Nes-
bllt’s hat, and got entangled In the
trimmings, nearly caused her death
by drowning on l^ake Oscawana.
She was paddlifig alone in a ca-
noe When the bird landed on her
hat, and was caught. Mrs. Nesbitt,
.Tightened, jumped to her feet and
overbalanced the canoe. Her hus-
band. who was on shore, swam out
and brought her to safety. The bird
escaped In the excitement.
Reunited After 38 Years’ Separation.
WilkeB-Barre, Pa.—Mrs. Margaret
BackeB of Plttston and Peter Miller
of Chicago, brother and sister, who
have been separated for 38 years, each
believing the other dead, were re-
united when Miller walked Into the
home of his sister unnanounced and
declared he was her long lost brother

Hallowe’en passed off in Jones
City without the spooks doing much
damage. A few out buildings were
turned over, and some of tbe people
missed some of the fowls from their
hen houses, was about all that lias
been reported.

Friends of Mr. and Mrs. E. S.
Blackburn, formerly of the Har-
mony neighborhood, were notified
J uesday of the death of their son
Cecil Blackburn, who passed away
Monday at his home in Edmond.
The deceased boy was about 20 years
of age. His father was county clerk
of this county Several years ago.
