the support of many socialists

are rumors against Mr. Howard

which if true should result in
Mr. Howard’s defeat, and Mr.

was re-elected two years ago,
without making a canvas, by a
majority of 270 votes, although
there were two good men run-
ning on the democratic ticket
and another on the republican
ticket, there being two to elect.
The result in this .race is the
more remarkable when it is re-
called that Judge Abernathy,
concededly one of the most pop-
ular democrats in Shawnee, in
the same campaign, received a
majority of 282 only, for judge of
the superior court, and that too,
with no candidate against him
except a socialist.
Mr. Johnson’s reputation as a
fair and impartial judge is of the
very best. Lawyers and liti-
gants unanimously agree that
his decisions have been above re-
proach. His ability and qualifi-
cations as a judge are of the
highest order. It is generally
conceded by the bench and bar
of the county that Judge John-
son is the best material for coun-
ty judge that has been before
the people in a decade. It is safe
to say that all business that
comes into his court, should he
bq^elec-ted, will be disposed of as
the law directs.
