LEAGUE ENTERTAINS PITCHING 0000 BALL
On last Thursday evening,
July 31st, 1913 the League had
its first social and expects to
have one each month hereafter.
The Leaguers and their many
friends wish to express their
appreciation to the literary vice-
president and his committee for
the splendid program which was
rendered, which consisted: ‘‘The
First Day School,” send was
conducted by the hostess. Mr.
Braugh being the best scholar

untiring efforts and supernatural

Shawnee’s cap of victory Sunday
when he defeated the Oklahoma
Lions, one of the swiftest
amateur teams in the state, in a
hotly and closely contested game

ing served w'hich consisted of
sandwiches, different kinds of
salads, ice cream and cake and
watermellons, Hon. Judge Beatty
gave a nice talk in honor of the
league.

family, W. S. Hurst and wife,
Prof. J. W. Wertz, Mary Swift,
Elmer Martin, Elmer Cottingham
Willie Gilbert, Guy and Walter
Coulter, F. G. Goodman, Metta
Kidd, Nellie Gilbert, Vera
Cossey, Arline Wilson, Doris
Mundy, Georgia Flinn, Ruby
Petrie, Lucile McCall and Rose
Clerget.
All present declared the
hostess and committee good
entertainers.

new members every Sunday

The following young Wanette
people enjoyed a pleasent ride to
Adell Saturday evening, August
2nd, to attend a Baptist meeting
at that place. The wagon which
carried the young people to their
destination and back was
certainly filled to overflowing.

Ona Martin and Dewitte French,
made a trip to Purcell Sunday in
Paris & Royster’s touring car.
The drive to Purcell was made
in an hour and thirty minutes.
Mr. Coulson was summoned by
wire to attend the bedside of his
sick mother, who was reported
very ill, and the quickest route
was to reach Purcell in time to
catch the 1:40 south bound Santa
Fe, but he failed to make con-
nection on account of starting

northwest o f town Sunday
afternoon.
Reece came down from Shaw-
nee Sunday morning and his
little bride-to-be was waiting for
him at the depot here. Without
wasting any time, the young
couple hastened to the country
home of Miss Riggins. Somehow
it later became annouced that
the two were intending to get
married' After the ceremony,
the young couple drove to Trous-
dale to catch the northbound
train to Shawnee, intending to
leave Wanette and the excite-
ment they knew would be sure
to follow if they came here to
catch the train for Shawnee. As

boys and caught the south bound

Colbert, Okla., stopped off in
Wanette first of the week to
visit friends. They were on
their way to Meeker, Okla., to

Leak Finley and family left
Tuesday for Little River on a
big fishing expedition. They
both assert Little River will be
scarce of fish when they return,
especially near the place where
they will cast their nets and
lines.
Mrs. Arthur Petrie, who has
been visiting relatives here for
