lUllctt OriMizes Oil And Gas Coapaay
•
Thursday night’*, was one of the
nit >*t important meeting* of the
Commercial clab that ha* ever
been held. The object of the
meeting was to device*ouie plan
whereby the Townsite could 1**
devehqted for oil and gu*, and
while thin in rather a difficult
prohieiu in order todo justice to
all, yet the club tielieve* it ha*
fell on a plan that will do'justice
and l*e satisfactory to all. We
have <>40 acres of laml in the
townsite, and a very small per
cent of it in occupied, and recent
development a indicates that it
in all good oil laml. The plan
adopted by the club in to organ-
ize a company of the lot owner*
if enough capital can Ik? raised
by thin plan to drill a well, and
if not, to supply the deficiency
by selling stock outside the lot
owners. Then the Town Hoard
of Trustees will give this com-
pany the authority to drill for
oil in the alley of each b]«s‘k
provided all the lot owners of
such block give* their consent,
and when the block is drilhd
and it produces oil, then the lot
ow ners of such block own exclu-
sively one eiuhth of all oil pro-
duced therefrom, and their pro-
portional part of the other seven
eighths us they own stock in the
company if any. The opportunity
will be given tlie lot owners to
take up all this stock if they de-
sire, and if they fail to do this
the ballauce will tie sold toother
pa rt ies.
The temporary organization
of the company was effected by
electing A. F. Mowry President,
J • C. Reuse vice president. W. A.
Met als? secretary, A. 1*. Smith
assistant secretary, G. O. Shep-
herd treasurer, Ulysses Loup
and L. X. Kimrey dim-tors.
The club will meet next Mon-
day nip-lit to hear a report of the
Hoard as to the further plans of
coniplet nip the organization.
This is a very important move
since if oil is developed it will
means much to the lot owners,
and in case it should fail then no
one is necessarily out much
money. *

Me, the undersigned Mayor
and city Clerk of the Town of
Maramec, Oklahoma, do hereby
certify that at a meeting of the
council of said city, held on the
first Monday in duly, 1818, pur-
suant to the provisions of sec-
tion 2, of chapter 04, session
laws of litlo, tlie within and fore-
going statement of the fiscal con-*
dition of said city was prepared,
and that said statement shows
a true and correct Rendition of
the affairs of said city for the
fiscal yaarcadfng June 80 IMS.
Hated this 7 th day of duly 1918.

Blight prospects are ahead for
our city, l'he promise of .1 bumper
crop, oil development increasing,
the country is being tested out all a-
round us and only a short time re-
mains until the test well one half
mile east of town is due to come in.
The new city officers have taken
up their duties of administering the
city* affairs, and we want to say a
few words in their behalf. Each one
of them are good, clean, honest
business men that have made a suc-
cess in business and ate tilling both
positions of tiust and responsibility
and we ought to give tueni a “cleai
board” in the transacting of the city
business and inprovemeuts that the\
may wish to carryout. We feel con-
fident that their only aim will be to
do what they think woujd he for the
best interest of all, and at some fn-
tuie time they should forward some
proposition that would help the
town to grow and biing in more
people, let’s every one of us back
them up and help carry it out. It is
a ceitainty that any cost that would
arise from anything they may pro-
pose, it will effect them as much,
if not more, than any other property
owner or tax payer m iown. We are
going to help in every go.nl thing
for the town that comes along, let
it cost us what it may.

duy The upshot? Today eai b of the

or two of them couldn’t buy a bushel
of potatoes on tick. If you were to ask
the-e fellows bow it was those three
brothers got ahead they would proba
bly attribute it to good luck. This con
teutiou may be true in one narrow
sense-namely, they were lucky enough
to l>e endowed with go d horse sense
and a becoming appreciation of the
law of cause and effect and the prln

corner and talk things over aud make

hence he wants to be in a deeper rut

also well ponder ou the "good luck
factor which entered into the success
of tbese three brothers.
