There is worse things than war and
better things than money. When the
spirit of a nation is broken so that it
bow’s its neck to oppression and sub-
mits to tyranny, that is worse than
war. A good moral, upright, honest,
and straight course is worth more
than money.

Don’t be bum-fuzzled, Gandy has
no doubt arrested more settlers for

had no other way of making a living,
than any one man in the Territory.
Mr. Blackmore, of Higley post
office, but who lives just across the
line in Dewey county, brought us a
sample of this year’s corn, which is
simply fine, and Mr. Blackmore says
it will make 45 bushels to the acre.
He also brought in some fine speci-
mens of Kafir corn and cane.

The Territorial evangelist of the
Christian church, John A. Stevens,
delivered an able address at the Chris-
tian church last night. From him we
learn that there are one hundred
and forty congregations of the Dis-
ciples of Christ, aggregating a total
membership of fifteen thousand. They
have one hundred and forty place* of
worship, one hundred and seven
preachers, and will have built twenty-
eight places of worship during the
fiscal year ending September 1st, and
costing $80,000, and one hundred
Sunday schools of seven thousand pu-
pils. From statistics in the gover-
nor’s office it is learned that in 1902,
this religious body still holds the first
place numerically in Oklahoma.—
Enid Eagle, Aug. 12.
And as yet this church is not rep-
resented in Woodward.

He has been down in Texas for a few

, Some seem to consider McGuire’s
speech very rich, but the truth of the
matter is, it wouldn’t make a gruel,
especially in reference to the school
fund, for this is one thing that In-

large school fund.
