The Woodward Bulletin stood up

and bluster, that ‘It* is i i‘. and
left tin? people to conjecture what

One of our subs ril. rs .-topped in

he had just been up and stopped his
subscription to the bulletin, as he
could g. t all the almanacs he wanted
for nothing. Is this it?

It is claimed that several years
ago when the boom was raging in
Southwest Kansas, so we are told,
some property was mortgaged to
eastern speculators or capitalists. In
some instances the mortgages were
foreclosed, and as a matter of course
the ea tern man was compelled to se-
lect some reii estate agent or graft-
er to Id k after his property, collect
rents, c;c. In many instances, so
we are toll, the real estate agent-
grafter. would put the money down in
his o.wi pocket and make no return
to the eastern man. We’ve got one
of those grafters in Woodward, so
we are told. A party who went to
K. ie;haps a year ago left his
property i:i charge of a certain party
who k , t it rented but failed to make
the prop, r returns, but it happened
that this party returned to Woodward
and it appears hud some trouble in
finding his supposed agent. Hut he
is here in town; an! while we do not
care t > make mention of any name, it
is amusing to see how quick such
men will run into the court of justice
and bring a libel suit at the expense
of the county, to defend their spot-
less character. N’ufT said.
We heard a mighty smart preacher
remark, "That one working member
was worth more to the church than
two praying men." El Reno Demo-
crat.
He might have truthfully added,
than a whole correll of preachers.
