119 votes cast, 59 to elect, but on
this ballot Judge I’atton received 59
votes, which, under the former de-
cision, would have made him the
nominee on the first ballot but for
Tubby Bolton, who was acting as
assistant chairman on his own hook,
sticking in his jib and reminding the
chair that it took GO to elect, where-
upon another ballot was called for
Patton receiving 62 votes was de-
clared the nominee. Sheriff Woods
was declared the nominee on the
first ballot. The chair paused for
sometime, and'finally stated that he
was waiting for a motion, but the
motion to make unanimous was never
heard J. A. Dixon was nominated
by acclamation, J. A. Innis, Co. Sur-
veyor, and Peter Martinson, for
Treasurer, cabbaged their plums at
the first swipe.
The report of the committee on
resolutions were then read, which en-
dorsed nothing, but Gandy for Coun-
cilman; McKinley’s picture hung on
the wall, Roosevelt's was nowhere to
be seen, and his name was not men-
tioned.
L. Yount, of Gage, was selected as
chairman of the County Central Com-
mittee for the next two years, and
Ely Heckart, living in the southeast
corner of the county as secretary.
The convention then adjourned,

E. Meyer, of Uhoma, Garfield Co., 0.
T., contestant, against Robert W.
Koons, of Opal, 0. T., Homestead
entry No. 8423, made July 15, 1901,
for \\ J of the NWJ of Section 10,
Township 22N, Range 22W, by
Robert W. Koons, of Opal, 0. T., con-
testee, in which it is alleged that the
said entryman, Robert W. Koons, has
never established a bona tide residence
upun said tract of land, there being
no habitable house or structure of
any kind upon said tract of land,
and the soil being in its original wild
state; that said entryman has wholly
abandoned said tract of land for a
period of more than six months since
making said entry and next prior to
the date of initiation of this contest;
that said tract of land is not settled
upon and cultivated by said party as
required by law; that said default in
establishing residence and in maintain-
ing same has never been cured; and
that said alleged absence from and
failure to cultivate said tract of land
was not due to said entryman’s em-
ployment in the Army, Navy, or Ma-
rine Corps of the United States, in
any capacity, during a time of war.

Receiver for a hearing in said cause.
