VATATBOKCHITO
WAS DYNAMITED
"-EXPLOSION TUESDAY NIGHT DE
STROYS VAT NO. 18 IN THE
EDGE OF BOKCHITO. EX-
PLOSION HEARD
The first destruction of u county
'dipping vat to occur in Bryan county
occurred Tuesday night at Dokchito
when the county's vat No. 18 located
in the edge of the town was com-
petely destroyed by an explosion of
dynamite that was touched off at
about 10:80 o'clock at night: and w.is
jphtlnly heard by mnny people of the
'town although nWny of them wore
jnot aware as lo iti import until on
Wednesday morning when the news
quickly spread over the county.
According to Inform li 'on co.mr.g
co the News office the charge was
' evidently placed near the middle of
" the vat for the entire center walls
was broken and caved in utterly de-
stroying the vat's usefulness.
Aa the Federal Government and
the State and county are cooperating
in the dipping program the destruc-
tion of the vat is said to constitute an
offence against the Federal govern
ment as well as against the State and
- officers are now making investiga-
tions with a view to the apprehension
of those guilty.
The affair has come as a thunder-
bolt from a clear sky. There is or-
ganized opposition in the county to
the dipping program as is well known
and there are good men who aro hon-
estly opposed to the forced dipping of
stock as there are many others who
favor compulsory dipping. Those who
have taken the initiative in opposing
the work have proceeded through a
petition to the county commissioners
asking that body to abstain from any
'further appropriations for the work
and leaders of the anti-dipping ele-
ment themselves deplore such action
as was taken at Bokchito thi week
knowing full well than the destruction
of property and a resort to violent"
never has nor ever will defeat the
enforcement of law.
THE GREEN FOREST
NATATORWM
Is Thrown Open To Public Tuesday
Night In Response To Crowd's
Insistence
Notwithstanding the fact that the
'new natatorium was not ready and
that the management had not in-
tended to open the pool to the public
until Wednesday night except to the
kids who wore admitted free Tuesday
afternoon mi great was tho insistence
of the crowd of spectators who Wl
assembled to see the amphibian antics
ji me youngsters that ot length the
'management yielded and admitted all
.those who wished to try it out.
It had been intended that the pool
would be thrown open Wednesday
night and that being generally under-
stood there was a large crowd pres-
ent and many enjoyed tho pleasures
wf the pool.
Tho final touches yet remain to be
.put on but when the work is finished
the public is promised one of the fin-
est natatoriums in this part of the
- country and judging by the numbers
who have availed themselves of it
already it will be appreciated by
those whom it is intended to snrro
Those who have tried it say that the
water is fine and as there is a con
stant stream through it and it will be
emptied and cleaned at frequent in-
tervals the water will always be
iresn-ana sweet.
VOTERS CANNOT NOW CHANGE
THEIR PARTY AFFILIATIONS
It is too late for persons registered
-as belonging to one political party to
change their registration in order to
vote in the primary election on August
;3 according to W. C. McAlister secre-
tary of the State Election Board. The
time Tor changing registration expir-
d May 6.
'No change in registration shall be
granted on the ground of change of
polities (unless application therefor be
' mado'tit least 90 days before the next
fc sucectling general primnry.
Uf I have calculated correctly under
the law no person is permitted to
change his political affiliation of rec-
'ord since May 5." McAlister said
"' "At any time before that it was per-
. missible for any citizen to go to his
precinct registrar with his registra-
tion certificate ask for its cancella-
tion and get a new certificate in any
party with which he wished to affil-
iate. The time for that change has
pawed this year."
SArtempts have been made by many
persons to change their registration
since the time expired said McAlister.
Persons who have received new reg
istration certificates since May 5 may
be challenged as to their party affilia-
tion when they present the certificate
for a ballot on the day of the primary
Je said.

DEATH OF VIRGINIA JACKSON
At the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L.
Gardner on 801 North Second. June
15 1920 occured the death of their
18 year old daughter Virginia.
A little more than a year ago Vir-
ginia was car driving with a friend
who lost control of the car and in the
accident both were seriously hurt).
Virginia never fully recovered from
the injury sustained.
From her earliest girlhood she has
been a Christian. Death came as a
relief to her. God in his infinite
mercy saw fit to call her home where
she will forever be free from suffer-
ing. A Friend.
