SILKS AND SllKOUDH
(Hy A. II. Lewis State Health Commissioner.)-
One of the most common causes
of sickness nnd death among women
in the winter time Is the utterly
senseless way in which some of them
dress.
Women who wear furs all summei

furs but with low-necked drosi-es.

they go out of doois as surely as did
the soldier boy when he went over
the top.

Give JkCan's Store
Gifts This Christmas
AND PLEASE HIM
Each year that goes by more women see the practicability of
buying Man's Store Gifts for their men folks.
Men appreciate gifts of this character because of their prac-
ticability. Man is more cold-blooded and can't appreciate the dainty
flaps and frills that a woman would go wild over.
As usual our gift-merchandise for men bears the label of
guaranteed satisfaction and can be exchanged or money re-
funded if not satisfactory The buyer takes no risks.
Gifts of course should be of good quality and quality mer-
chandise is no where in greater abundance than at this store.

OXE ('All OF COAL THIS WEEK
A Durant dealer received one car
of coal this week which haidly last-
ed till It was all gone' as the dealer
expressed it. The valuable commod-
ity was dealt out in 500-pound lots
and all who got any came or sent foi
it at their own expense. The coal
was taken away so rapidly that the
dealer is "up in the air" as to who
got some of it and has no money to
show for It. On the other hand ho
had to return money to several who
had paid in advance and got to the
car too late. It is predicted that
Duiant has u-ielved Its last car of
coal until such lime as coiull'lons
are again normal which assuredly
will not be lor several week- and
pel haps months.
