(By Dr. A. It. Lewis)
Oklahoma City's present wa
ter difficulty should be a warn
ing and example to all the cit
ies and towns of the state.
You can't have municipal
content and happiness unless
you have the best water supply
mat money can buy. It's bet-
ter by far to have your money
invested in a good water sys
tem than it is to have an under-
taker and doctor on every
street corner. It costs just as
much in the end materially
and there's the enormous
waste of life and the terrible
suffering to be endured be
sides.
Six million gallons of filthy
sewerage are being poured in-
to the North Canadian river
rrom Oklahoma City every day.
with the result that farmers
and townspeople along the riv-
er below the city are suing for
$12501)0 as damage from pol-
lution. Far worse statistics from
the state health department
prove that all the deaths from
typhoid fever in Oklahoma
county last year were along the
course of this poison river.
In your own community you
can do your part whether your
supply is from well creek riv
er or lake. Send a sample of
it to the. statu department of
public health. We'll analyze
it and tell yon whether it bears
typhoid and other disease
germs. Then set about right-
ing the difficulty if any. It will
pay you and your city in the
long run.
And when the tphoid vac-
cine now being given free by
this depaitineut reaches you"
health officer go to him a
once and lie inoculated against
this dread disease. It may
save you more years to your
community and assuredly will
saw some tricud or illative
it your water nippy happens
to he bad.

a result of the attitude of so
