in town, the day being
one for the occasion. In the
morning a number of people fi.lecl
the hall to listen to an able and
instructive address bv Attorney
W. A. Briggs of Woodward. For
an hour or more Mr. Briggs held
his audience by his earnest and
masterly effort, addressing the
youth in a most impressive wav,
dropping gems of truth that eve-
tv young person should treasure;
appealing to the parents on be-
half of the sons and daughters,
urging them to give the young
people ah opportunity to develop
the talents they possess so that
they mav be an honor to the com-
munity, state and nation.
A number of races entertained
the crowd the remainder of the
day. Also a pretty girl contest,
In which Miss Rosa Loyd was the
winner, although the judges were
puzzled somewhat; all the con-
testants being undeniable proof
that for feminine beauty Oklaho-
ma, and especially this vicinity,
■isn’t be beat. The day closed
with an egg race, which was one
if the most amusing features in
'.he day’s entertainment. Every-

their train and move the wagons
to the grounds, and. bright and
early Monday morning their small
army of workmen will commence
to get everything in shape for the

Everything will be in readiness

Women are prone to underesti-
mate the terrors of this homicidal
strife. They look upon a man in
business1 for instance, as a being
who achieves large profits from
small exertions, and entirely es
capes the dull, plodding routine
of housekeeping and children-
rearing that they must face. As
a matter of fact, the average man
whether he be a bank president
or a dav laborer, spends nine-
tenths ot his time performing
drudgery of the most depressing
sort. It is i rare moment when
he is t.ot compelled to do some-
thing ’hat he doesn’t want to do.
It is a : -cment rarer still when he
