Durant has loft Washington af

No sooner had he reached
Washington than he discovered
that a strip of territory lying-in
the extreme south central portion

district whioh included the Choc-
taw nation was enumerated by
recording districts. Then Choc
taw nation should bo included in
I another congressional district. It

When Mr. Williams first mado
this statement the chairman of
the house and sonato territorial
Lommittee Senator Beveridgo of
j ho senate territorial committee
laughed at it and replied that
such a mistake was impossible.
But Mr. Williams producod maps
and soon convinced them of their
orror. The mistako will be recti
fied. The peoplo .residing in tho
western portion of recording dis-
triot No. 25 will be inoluded in a
congressional distriot
Another provision of the state
hood bill to which Mr. Williams
aallod particular attention was
Section 2 whioh provides that all
male persons over the age of 21
years who are oitizens of tho
United States or who are mem
bers of any Indian nation or tribe
in Indian Territory and Oklaho-
ma and who have resided within
tho limits of the proposed state
for at least six months next pro-
ceeding the elootion shall have
the right to participate in all elec
tions held in pursuance with tho
provisions of the enabling act
whioh congress will soon pass.
The. same section extends the
election laws of Oklahoma over
Indian Territory for tho purpose
of governing the election of mem-
