Celebrating June as national Gay and Les-
bian Pride Month, Pride Network, Inc., of Okla-
homa City has established a list of highlighted
activ ities occurring before and during Pride Week
Oklahoma, June 20 through 27. Although not
exhaustive, all activities confirmed by press time
are listed:
The picnic will feature food and drink, aits and
crafts, entertainment and games, fun and fellow-
ship, and Tulsa Pride T-shirts.
• OKC: Monday, June 21, 7:00 to 10:00
p.m.: GALA Awards.
The annual Gay And Lesbian Awards, hon-
oring outstanding businesses, performers and
resentative Michael Allen. World-renowned vo-
calist and pianist Randall Powell will serve as
program director.
GALA Awards will be presented in the
following categories: Entertainer of the Year
(Male and Female), Female Impersonator, Enter-
tainment Group of the Year (Male and Female),
Volunteer of the Year (Male and Female),
•OKC: Friday, June 18,7:00p.m.: Gay and
Lesbian Prom Night at the Porthole. Sponsored
by the Porthole, the second annual Prom Night
will be held as a fund-raiser for PNI. Cover
charge for the event is $5.00 for couples and
$3.00 for singles, with all proceeds donated to
defray the cost of producing the Pride Paiade.
Prom Night guests are encouraged to wear cre-
ative formal wear, although "those in casual
attire are certainly welcome," said a spokesper-
son. The term “creative formal wear” includes a
wide variety of formal dresses, gowns and tux-
edos, along with jeans, boots and tuxedo shirts,
and dressy casual/sports wear, explained the or-
ganizers. A Prom King, Queen, and Fairy Prin-
cess will be crowned during the event and a
photographer will be available to take prom pho-
tos for a small fee.
•OKC: Sunday, June20,4:00to8:00p.m.:
Annual Block Party on NW 39th Street, spon-
sored by Angles, the Coyote Club, the Kitchen,
the Oasis Community Center, the Park, Tramps
and the Wreck Room. Free food and beer will be
available, along with the Bud Light karaoke
truck.
• Tulsa: Sunday, June 20, noon until 6:00
p.m.: Annual Gay Pride Picnic in Mohawk Park.

bar cocktail hour at 7:00 p.m., followed by dinner
at 8:00 pm., and the awards at 9:00 p,m. Tickets
for the event, which include the buffet-style

Community Service Organization of the Year,
Community Event of the Year, Best Youth Orga-
nization of the Year, Best Club/Bar of the Year
(Male and Female), Business of the Year, Woman

'50s or '60s entertainer. Donations accepted at

p.m.: By-Invitation-Only Reception and Ben-
efit, sponsored by OGLPC, in honor of rally
keynote speaker Sgt. Jose Zuniga. For more

Metro Men’s Chorus Pride Benefit Concert at
First Presbyterian Church, 1001 NW 25th. Tick-

•Tulsa: Sunday, June 27,10:00 a.m.: TOHR
chartered bus trip to OKC for the Pride parade.

Gay and Lesbian Pride Parade Day activities
begin with an ecumenical service in Memorial
Park on NW 36th and Classen at 2:00 p.m.,
followed by the rally at 3:00 p.m. The rally will
feature several local and state politicians and
community leaders, with keynote speaker Sgt.
Jose Zuniga. The parade will begin promptly at
4:00 pjn. Parade entrants should check in with
the PNI infonnation/registration booth for line-
up information as soon as possible upon arriving.
Following the parade, a trophy will be awarded
for best representation of the theme “A Family of
Pride" and for best float spirit.
Miscellaneous Information:
Individuals designated to speak to the press
I should check in with the PNI registration desk for
details; press interviews will be conducted in a
specially designated park area. PNI T-shirts,
hats and flag sales are not permitted in the park;
these items will be available at a booth set up
along The Strip during the rally and parade.
Prior to the parade, PNI will sponsor a shuttle
van from the club area back to the park for those
individuals who would like to park at the clubs
and ride back down to the park to march in the
parade. Shuttle rides are free of charge. This
year, PNI will not hold a booth fair following the
parade.

i Parade Party sponsored by Gushers Complex.
