railroad propositions and everybody make a long pull and a strong pull for some good factories that will use the
power our "damned" river can give then and that will make the goods for the railroads to haul.

I in tho advancement of the city and
ao interested in knowing how the
onoy appropriated lor tho work had
een expended.
Mayor Plum presided over the
.eotlng and presented a detailed
.atement of tho expenditures on the
ork connected with the extension of
10 sower trio electric ugii ana
ator systems tho building of tho
ater softening plant and the con-
.ruction of tho dam. This stato-
Icnt showod that now that tho work
practically complete that whilo
10 cost has lar exceeded tho esti-
ates the amount of bonds provided
i tho two issues will bo sufficient to
impleto tho work originally contem-
atcd. The cost of building tho re-
lining walls necessary to protect
lo dam and keep tho river from cut-
ng around the structure will cost in
e neighborhood of 3500 and the
ty will bo askod to authorize tho
uncil to do this work and iBsuo city
arrants in payment theso warrants
bo taken up out of tho proceeds
om tho plant.
In regard to tho plant as a busi-
ss proposition tho Mayor .showed
at if it is managed and conducted
a corporation would conduct such
business that instead of tho city
iing money at tho rate of from
00 Id $700 n month ns heretofore
der yho now order of things tho
ty frill make money. Ho estimn-
J that the plant should not only
y tho interest on tho bonded in-
btcdncss incurred for tho construct-

ing expenses' u'n'd necessary repairs
rn from $6000 to $10000 to apply
the principal of tho bonds in
icr words tho plant instoad of In-
asing tho burden of taxation should
erialy lighten It.
In addition to this tho fact that
adarko was now ablo to furnish a
to and steady fpower at a yery low
ure would bo the mcana ef attract-
X muny business enterprises to tho

tborbusinoss and commercial in-
os'xcf tho city add to the 'taxable
Buation and In every way aid in

Ling accomplished tho woric now
npleted and declaied that Ana-
l-ko was in tho lead of all Okla-
na cities in tho matter of muni-
al improvements. The construct-
of the dam hero had turned tho
I) of the entire stato toward Ana-
ko and because of tho enterprise
wn hero in harnessing the Washita
Town on New Rail
Anadarko was talked of all over tho
rtato ns not only ono of tho comming
cities of tho southwest but as tno
coming city. Mr O'Neal briefly
followed up the Mayor's remarks as
to tho plant being a profitable invest-
ment and in speaking of it stated
that now that it was completed his
rompany naturally felt con-
siderable prido in the work and sug
gested that whilo there had been ru-
mors that the O'Neal Engineering Co.
and tho city would havo trouble in
affecting a final settlement that this
was ail idle talk Thore was no oc
friction whatover.
As tho houi wqs growing late
Jndgo Holding who was on the pro-
gram bogged to be oxcused and ask-
ed that tho meeting bo turned over
to tho Commercial club as there was
an important matter in connection
with railroads that it was desired to
bring bofora tho people. II C
Bedford was then called on and in his
happy and inimitable way told of the
railroad possibilities of tho immediato
future for Anadarko. Tho Com-
mercial club had pledged a bonus of
00003 for the Altus Rosewell and
ElPaso railroad. The permanent
survey through the country southwest
from Anadarko has been mnde and
tho Commercial club hnviug retain-
ed the townsitc rights had secured
and platted a m ngmficlent site for a
town thirtccen miles faothwest from
tho city. It was proposed thnt
overy body in Anadarko buy at least
ono lot in the new townsitc by
which tho money with w Inch to pay
this bonus should bo raised and if
tho railroad is built as thcro is
overy indication that it will be and
not only built but eventually becomo
a part of tho "Katy's" trunk line to
tho southwest ovory lot In tho new
town will boworth several times tho
$50 which tho purchaser is asked to
pay for it.
Mr. Bradford wantod to sell some
lots Monday night ind ho proceeded
to do it the responses comjngBO rap-
idly for a timo that .tho secretary
was scarcoly ablo to record the name
of purchasers and before the eve-
ning was over a big start was made
in disposing of tho townsite. After
tho lots are all sold ajdrawing will
bo hold to determine tho location of
each holder's lot. A committee of
tho Commercial club will tako up tho
work now and by personal solicia-
tion dispose of tho remainder of tbo
lota.
Following Mr Bradforda talk Sec.

sent in suggestions for names for tho
now town and theso wore raid.
Yeara ngo'thoro hed been a town on

cd Broxtm aud jn the list it was
found that three persons had suggest-
ed this name their numbers being 50
69 and Gl. On motion of Mayor
Plum tho name of Broxton was ac-
coptsd and tho threo numbors placet
in a lot from whioh ono numberjwas
drawn. This number was found to bo

was found that Bryco Bollinger was
tho lucky contestant
