Runaway Tuesday Evening
Makes Supply Short
Tunpdoy oveulng nbout 5:30 o'clock
tho merchants nnd clerks on Fifth
and Broadway were mixed up in
what might hnvo been a serious ac-
cident. When Mr. Emmons with Ida
water wngon waa ncariug tho Whit-
ley .hotel where tho Inguils milk
wngon wna standing the liorsn to the
milk wagon became frightened at tho
water wagon and started up thu
streot but was soon surrounded by
tho buHincHB men who were watching
tho outcome nnd making ready to ns
slat in provonting a runaway. When
J F Mitchell was brave nongh to
ofTer to lay his hands on tho fright-
ened hone it hurled to ono side and
tipped wngon milk bottles and nil in
the middle of tho street. Had it not
been for tho uctivo move of Mr
Mitchell ho no doubt wou'd have
bicn picked up with tho milk bottles
and wagon from the street. The
horao broke looao from tho wagon
and ran n short distance when it was
caught nnd no dnmnge was done olh.
er than that several families wero
short of milk for breakfast.
