him by means of two ropes a short
cord connecting tho foro and hind fotr

SMALL BOY'S PATHETIC WISH.
Story with a Moral for Some Over-
Occupied Mothers.
Ho Is a poor llttlo neglected boy
whoso mamma Is so busy with moth-
ors nicotines and club conventions
nnd such Important matters that sho
really hasn't tlmo to attend to her
children says tho New York Times.
This llttlo boy was entertaining a cas-
ual caller whllo his mother was up-
stairs putting the finishing touches to
her toilet. Said .tho llttlo boy whoso
own toilet was sadly in need of atten-
tion: "What does e. t. c. mean?"
"E. t. c.?" naked the caller.
"Yes" said tho llttlo boy. "It's a sort
of a word. It's In a book I was read
ing."
"Oh" paid tho callor. "Etc. Is an
abbreviation. It is Latlq. It stands
for et cetera."
Tho llttlo boy looked puzzlqd. "I'm
not In Latin yet" ho said.
lEt cetera" explained the callor
'means well It means 'and so on.'"
Tho little boy was thoughtful for a
moment and then ho said:
"I wish my mamma could find .time
to et cqtera tho buttons on my panto!"
And taking tn his disheveled appear
ance tho visitor murmured "Aniqa."
