This is tho most famous of new
country towns. It is conceded
that it has tho boat soil surround-
ing it and its water of tho purest
description. No cast-iron stom-
achs aro needed by practicing
prohibitionists who maychanco to
stray in this direction. We hon-
estly believe that Anadarko has
a futuro that will soon mako its
population roll up into tho tons
of thousands. There will speed-
ily bo erected hero a magnifi-
cient court house generous water-works
and handsome and
commodious school-housos. Tho
population is cosmopolitan
representing every stato in tho
Union. Th'eso people havo
brought with them tho thrift and
energy of other states. Wo havo
an active working Commercial
Club of two hundred business
men. We have aS50000 ico
plant and tho warmost politician
can keep cool nt a small annual
expense. Aflnur mill of 150 bar-
rels capacity is being erected.
Wo havo a cotton mill an olo-
vator and a broom factdry : a
steam laundry and four brick
plants; three national banks and
sovoral hotels. A 15000 hotel
will bo commenced this week.
Wo have threo newspapers all
thrifty yearlings devoted to our
interests. Nor is all we havo
enumerated tho sum total of our
possessions. We aro ono year
and nine months old. Wo havo a
population of about 4000 in two
years this number will bo 8000.
Wo havo eight churches and el-
oquent and pious ministers who
point us ton better lifo. Thoro
is no better climato anywhere.
Wo havo schools second to none
in all tho territory. A four year
high school course has been es-
tablished. Tho lower depart
ments aro well graded artic-
ulating with tho high school and
tho high school with iho Univer-
sity. Everybody supports the
schools these aro our pride. In
a few days threo brick buildings
will be commenced a high school
and two ward schools. Wo havo
a good corps of teachers and a
model Board of Education. Un
der the able management of our
present city superintendent our
schools havo been vastly im-
proved. Wo are characterized
by our humility and modesty and
would not say anything to un-
duly inflate anyone else but wo
we will say our banks and bank-
ers aro about as near perfection
as thoy well can bo. But this
can be said of all our businoss
men and institutions. A town is
what its business men mako it.
When any improvement is pro-
posed they do not say "wo will
see about it" thoy straightway
go and do this is tho general
spirit that provails. Ono of the
first exclamations of newcomers
How did you' do so much in
colors and shades and tints a-
dorn tho sky and lend enchant-
ment to tho view. Tho nimbus
is not infrequently seon glad-
dening tho farmer's heart and
making glad his ripening crop.
Vorily this is tho land of Aladin
tho land of tho children of tho
sun where all impossibilities aro
mado possiblo and whore truth is
strnngor than fiction not from
its infroquoncy but from its very
strangenoss.

so short a time!" This indeed
may bo asked about tho whole
of the new country. It is the
marvel of tho century and its
people aro tho products of tho
centuries. With roforenco to
railroads Anadarko is centrally
locatod. Wo havo railroads to
every cardinal point of tho com-
pass and soon there will be two
more. Our soil is absolutely fer
tile. Wo can raise as good corn
as is produced in Illinois as
good wheat as Kansas and more
cotton to tho aero than is pro
duced in Louisiana. Everything
planted grows.
It would bo impossible to de-
scribe this land and this country.
Broad level fertile stretches un-
dulating prairies that rise and
fall (liko old ocean's gentle
swell) covered with magnificiont
