Stone Chosen In Missouri.
Jofforson City Mo. Jan. 8.

laturo in joint caucus tonight
nominated ox-Governor W. J.
Stone of St. Louis for United
Statos senator to succeed Sen-
ator G. G. Vest. Tho nomi-
nation was made by acclamation
after Wm. Wallace who was can-
didate withdrew from tho contest.
Wallace rriiTa8peech with-
drawing fronvtho raco to support
Stono who had won nomination.
Wallace apparently had no ohoico
except for somo democrats to
remain from tho caucus but tho
nomination by republicans last
night of R. C. Kerens shattored
thoir hopes and made this plan
impossible. Stono . had more
than a majority of tho caucus.
