convention at Oklahoma City

to take such steps as tho wisdom

tion in accordanco with tho sug

Yesterday several mombors" of
tho city counoll provailod upon
tho Mayor to cull a special session
of tho city council to moot last
night ostensibly for tho purposo
of accepting tho now jail that hod
just boon completed. Tho Mayor
hesitated to 1I0 tliis at first but
finally concluded to make tho
call as ho was assured that tho
parties that built tho jail woro in
need of tho money and had built
tho jail according to contract.
When tho council mot tho Mayor
stated tho object of tho meeting.
Councilman Hammond arose to
mako a fow remarks and in a
neat littlo speech presented tho
Mayor with a very fine gold
headed walking cano which hours
tho inscription "from tho coun-
cil police forco and friends of
Anadarko to our Mayor W. II.
Edwards." Tho Mayor was
completely surprised this was
tho first intimation ho had of tho
roul object of tho meeting. Tho
Mayor is very proud of tho cano
and you oan ulmost hear him
smilo today as ho walks along
tho street with his Now Year's
present.

opinion by Attornoy General
Robborts of Oklahoma today de-
cided that 8300000 worth of war-
rants issued- by school districts
of Caddo Kiowa" and Comancho
counties Oklahoma aro legal.
Tho counties aro but sixteen
months old and before tho first
tax levy was made it became nec-
essary to havo money with whioh
to build school houses. There-
fore tho warrants woro issued.
They are held principally in tho
east.
