School Notes.
Tho schools have increased from
427 on the first day to nearly 500.
The seniors aro studying Grecian
Mythology. The eighth grade are
doing some good work in diagram-
ming The ninth are studying
taxes.
Harold Edwards was scverly hurt
in the eye recently by the careless
throwing of clods by some thought-
less companion.
The sixth grade has been trans-
ferred to tho east sido and the fifth
to the west side to acommodatc the
large number of pupils in the fifth
grade.
Narrow Escapes.
While returning from Anadarko
Monday night C. F. Dyer R. "W.
Otto and James Thompson barely
missed being ushered into the hap
py hunting grounds. Tho train up-
on which they were traveling was
fired upon a short distance north of
ChickaBha. One of the bullets
struck tho glass in tho front door of
fhe coaches throw glass over the
gentlemen above named and slight-
ly out Mr. Thompson's face. Mr.
Otto had his right oyo filled with
broken glass which was extracted
by a physician who happened to be
on the train.
The rear coach was also fired in-
to. Tho train was stopped and
search instituted but the miscreants

The Ui'ion Sunday School picnic
was held in tho city park today.
Fortunately tho weathtr was all
that could be desired and it was a

happy children who participated

Schools with their teachers and led
Mr. Conley inarched to tho grounds
where after songs and recitations
a good old timo picnic dinner was
enjoyed After dinner an effort
was matin to carry out the regular
program but tho littlo ones were
having such a good timo "picnicing
that it was impossible to get them
together forawhilo. Tho manag
ers of this picnic deserve great' praise
for their efforts to mako it a 'happy
day for tho littlo ones. Tho Indian
Sunday School children also took
part and it is ncedk-ss to say fully
