Last Saturday night the demo-
crats from the four wards of this
city assembled at MoAninch hall
for the purpose of perfecting a
a democratic organization to assist
the county central committee in con-
ducting the fall campaign.
When P. P. Shaw ascended the
platform to call the meeting to or-
der ho laced a hall that was lacked
to the doors with eager expectant
followers of the .Teffersonian faith.
Quito a few republicans were
present either for the purpose oi
getting a Ics-fon in liarmouy or with
a vague half formed idea of repent
ing and turning away from the faith
of their political sins.
The chairman explained tlic ob
ject of the nicotine and asked that
some one volunteer to act as temp
orary secretary. Several called for
attorney Morris and that affable
gentleman came iorwaru auu as-
sumed his duties. Nominations
were declared in order for Presi-
dent of the club and Cail Glitaol;
was nominat:d and elected on the
first ballot..
ITig W'M a peculiarly happy se-
lection ftB Carl is not only a staunch
nggrestive democrat but is also an
able parliuientariau and attorney.
He is the junior member of the linn
of Glitsch & Glitsch and under his
direction the Democracy will
achieve a glorious victory in Ana
dnrko this fall.
Theo Pruett was unanimously
elected Secretary Berl Beebe vice
president and J. A. McCampbell
Treasurer.
These are all true blue democrats
and will work together harmonious-
ly for the success of our entire
ticket. Tlieo. Pruett is a member
of the law ilrm of Liming and Pru
ett. Bert Beebo is a partner in the
well known livery linn of Beebe
and Ellison and his personal popu-
larity was fittingly emphasized in
our county convention where he
carried every vote in this city for
county clerk. J. A. McCampbell
is almost to well known to require
mention.
Everyone is acquainted with Mac
and a better democrat never lived
He is proprietor of the post ollice
newa store. At the conclusion ot
the election of officers a score of
people began calling on L. D.
Blankciishii) for a speech. That
ireiitlemau than whom their is no
more devoted a follower of Democ
racy in Oklahoma responded by
coming forward and making a
speech that will long bo remembered
as a masterpiece.
To use a political term ho fairly
skinned the enemy. He pointed
out many of their glaring incon-
sistencies and in ringing terms con-
demned the republi6ans for their
cowaidly attempt to whip the voters
of this territory into voting for
Bird McGuiro by threatening an-
other indefinite poutponmcut of
statehood in the event of the elect-
ion of your Uncle Bill Cross.
Ho was interuptcd from time to
k? time by hearty cheers.

On Juno '25th J.002 on the
motion to order immediate consid-
eration of the statehood bill in the
senate after the bill had passed
the house tho Republican members
ou Territories refused to allow tho
consideration of the bill. Every
Democrat and Populist voted for
tie bill in the house and were solid-
ly for the bill in the senate. The
Republicans are tliua absolutely re
sponsible for tho defeat of the state-
hood bill.
The Republicans have had the
president both houses of Congress
and the delegate from Oklahoma
for lour years. Their National
Phtform of 1800 and 1000 declared'
lor statehood. If they meant what
they said why did they not keep
their promise.'' touch leaders as
Grosvenor Payne and others
fought statehood in the house and
Bcvendge and the Republican mem-
bers of his committee fought the
bill in the senate and refused to
allow its passage.
The Watonga Republican a
paper which was owned and edited
by Governor Ferguson when speak-
ing of the seperato school law
passed by the manipulation of the
Democrats in tho last legislature
said: "The generate school law is
a disgrace and will not stand tho
test of the courts. This shows the
Republican position upon this
question and a vote for Republican-
ism will endanger tho schools of
this territory. By putting Repub
licans in power you will help graft
mixid school legislation into our
constitution when we become a
state. Do you want it?
Ed Stevens who has been visit-
