In a letter from .1. A. Carson of
Dinger wo learn that they are go-
ing to celebrate tho 4th of July in
elegant style. There will bo an
old fashioned barbecue horse race
ing roping wild cattle and ponies
by export cowboy ropers. And
some of the ablest orators in Okla-
homa have agreed to make the
American F.agle scream. The In-
dian dance at night will also bo a
feature worth going miles to see
The republicans of Oklahoma
will meet in convention tomorrow
at Enid to place in the Held a vie-
tun for the II611. Bill Cross to
(daughter next November. Dennis
saw the way the signs pointed
and modestly declined to be
placed upon the sacrificial altar.
Hut then there are others not so
wise as our Dennis and these will
make a desperate tight through
their henchman for the pli.ee of
honor in the coming slaughter.
Tho delegation from Kiowa
county passed through this morning
on their way to tho Republican eon-
venion at Enid. Each delegate had
pinned to the label of his coat a
badge of ribbon "stamped in bold
letters across it. Those who went
as on lookers also had on some kind
of an emblem to show they wero
from Kiowa. Along the Bides of
their car w.ib Btrung a streamer tell-
ing who and what they were. Com-
mittees were also busy scittering
hand bills and posters advertising
llobart Kiowa county and their
coining celebrations. Whatever
else the llobart people may bo they
certainly are luiBtlcrs and up-to-date
in every respect.
Alderman Hammond aid last I
night that our city dads would de-
vote houis to the consideration of a
proposition of 1.00 and let propo-
sitions of impoitant intcinst to the
city alone. lie also added that he j
would not servo any longer than l
this term as a councilman. Wo do
not blame him. If we were in his
place we would resign.
The only place especially prepared
for Ladies to b.ttho is at the Com-
mercial barber shop on C street.
There you will find everything you
desire forcomfort privacy and con-
venience. Mr. Ward has kindly
reserved each Thursday and Friday
afternoons for Ladies and they
should take advantage of this act of
kindness. Cleanliness and quietude
are the marked characteristics of
this place and many ladles are find-
ing pleasure and comfort there.
Prof W. E. Looney Democrat-
ic nominee for superintendent of
schools is attending the normal and
we hear him spoken of very hii'hly
by a great many of the teachers
present. It is conceded that no
one could have been nominated that
will do more for the upbuilding of
our schools that the Democratic
nominee. So if you have the in-
terest of our county at heart see
that his name is on your ballot in
November.
When tho Democrat convention
hominated J. E. llarston for Sheriff
of Caddo county they nominated a
gentleman who possesses every
qualification necessary to till that
important oilice. He is a Mason a
Democrat honest and true to every-
thing that is for the upholding of
law and order. His election is as-
sured and you will never have cause
to regret that you voted for him.
