The Tribune Interview Marvin
Bristow Who States That
Auditing Report is Correct
The Tribuno few days ago
in a fit of virtuouB indignation
aooueod tho Democrat of sling-
ing mud booauBO it asked a few
pertinont questions about the
record and qualifications lor
offioe of D. D. Hoag Guy Gillett
Marvin Bristow A. J. Perry and
Blankenship whioh have not
been answered yet and won't be
until just before tho election
when it is too late for tho hollow-
neBB of said "reply" to be shown.
Instoad of replying to thoso
questions the Tribune published
tho following little boroed from
the Republioan County Central
Committee written undoubtedly
by Marvin Bristow. Tho Demo-
crat roproducoa it for two reasons.
Tho first is that it contains an
admission that the report of
MesBrs Vaughn and Cram in 1003
is corroot whioh is to say thut
he admitd himself guilty of mote
than tho Domoorat ever request-
ed him to explain. He Bays that
the whole world knows that such
practices prevail in all police
courts. The other reason is that
Mr. Bristow advertises himself to
the community in his true light
by giving out a slandorous lie
when attention is directed upon
him. The editor cares nothing
for the Tribune's BriBtow inter-
view ad his father in law never
bad one dollar invested or loaned
in tho purohaBo of the Democrat
and nothing is easier than to
show it. But Mr. Bristow ehowB
himself up as a skunk and the
Democrat is interested like all
foroes for deoenoy in the oounty
in trying to prevent the eleotion
of a skunk to suoh an important
office as county attorney. The
artiole follows and shows how
hard pressed Bristow iB who is re-
presented to tho Democrat by
prominent Republicans as boing
one of tho worst corruptioniBts in
Caddo oounty.

BMSTOW INTERVIEWED
A Tribune reporter asked Mr.
M. BriBtow if he bad anything to
say in answer to charges made
by the Domoorat of Thursday
Sept. 5th and Monday Sept. 9th
and he requested us to say:
"Tho attacks are malicious and
villainous. The Democrat's
publication of tho 0th iB in proof
of its statemonta ol the 5tb and
to answer the latter is to answer
tho former. Tne report of that
committee is substantially cor-
root but the counoil then and
now as well as the wholo world
knows that the pruotice prevails
iu all police courts democratic
and republican where worthless
individuals who are a burden to
the community and guilty of
orime a fine is imposed and tho
individual given time to leave
the city or oommunity. If the
Demoorat does not know this its
itrnoranoe iB too deneefor it to be
blamed but it does know bettor
nd is therefore dishonest. I
raaue my reports to show tho
truth when if dishonest I oould
have cancelled the truth. I am

The unfortunate thing for Bria-

bs seen in Justice Starkweather's
offioo. The editor of tho Demo-
crat has been looking over it this
morninp and requests people not
to take his word for these things
but to examino tho polioe dockets
for themselves. They would bo
printed in the Democrat wero
they not too lengthy. However
ono or two cases may be quotod
to show how the polioo depart-
ment did business undor Brietow's
administration:
Sadie Woodworth charged
with running a houBO of prostitu-
tion fine and costs 531 monthly
paid on theBO dates: Nov. 12
and Deo. 13.1001; Jan. 16 Feby.
17 Moh. 14 April 15 May 15
June IG; and tho editor looked
no further.
Mabel Ivey prostitute $11
monthly Nov. 12- Deo. 13 1001 ;
Jany 16 Apr. 22 May 21 1002.
Maud James Sll and S21

Anna Evans or Edwards $11

15; May sil; Juno 16.
Dollio Wood Sll.Deo 281001;
Jany. 24 Moh. 14 Apr. 24 and
many other oases.
Tho gamblers also appeared to
have paid monthly fine collected
more or leas systematically.
The oditor of the Demoorat
regrets to have to put such
wretched stuff into bis paperand
would not do so on any other
consideration than that this
Bristow who evidently licensed
lawbreaking under a system of
monthly "fines as shown by bis
own recordB is now asking the
people to elect him to bo the law.
officer of the oounty. Do the
voters think that a man who per-
mitted gambling and prostitution
in the ouy will not permit these
crimes in the county? Do the
voters know ihat Bristow will get
the saloon voto practically solid.
and for what purpose?
One of Mr. Brietow's friends
informed the editor that BriBtow
had turned more money into the
city as fines than any police
judge since his time. We think
it very likely as it would be easy
to do bo under tho system of
farming out vioe forpurposos of
revenue that ib stated to have
existed in these days.
Do the voters of Caddo county
want for a oounty attorney a man
whose record in the only offioo he'
has over held here is that of com
pounding orime?
