The Independent Voter
Tho iniin who studios the
vote will readily see that no
party can go into an elec
tion in tho city with any
certainty as to tho result.
An inspection of the ballots
would show a surprising
number of scratches indi
cating that thonum is voted
for instead of tho party. Tho
Democrat and tho Tribune
beinu- party organs have
stood by their guns as they
must but tho result is rather
a stultification of partisanry
in this town.
Anadarko has had one re-
publican administration a
lurid one and many mixed
governments. It has gener-
ally been democratic in hot-
ly contested lights.
Tho Anadarko voter wears
no brass collar. JIo votes
ns ho d pleases and
not as tho party boss would
'have him. II ho gets a cold
throw down in a caucus or
primary ho quietly whets a
good bowio blade nnd at
tho proper time shoves it
quietly homo beneath the
midriff of tho offender. If he
likes tho Candidate on the
other tieuet "bettor he glee-
fully hikes him to the booth
and lands one on his party
candidate's solar plexus. A
Democratic victory of last
time changes to a republi
can victory this time and
vice versa. So moto it be
And now conies the battle
for the county.
Clyde C. Leech for
District Court Clerk
The Democrat presents Tor
tho consideration of it read
ers the candidacy of Clyde
jQ. Leech of Carnegie at
present county commission-
er.for tho oflico of tho cleric
of the district court. Mr.
Leech has been a resident of
Caddo county for six years
having drawn a claim in 131
Jeno in August 1001. Mr.
Leech is a lifelong democrat
and has taken part in the
work of tho county demo
cracy ever since ho came here
from Iowa. Ho is well known
in tho county and is well
qualified for tho oflico he
seeks. In case ho receives
the nomination ho expects
to ;o his part in securing
tho election of the county
ticket and promises every
courtesy and attention due
the public in case ho is elected.
B. F. Holding for County Judge
Judgo 13. F. Holding of
Cement has placed his an-
nouncement in the columns
of the Democrat for tho re-
sponsible oflico of county
judgo. .ludgo Holding is a
Kontuckian by birth and
was educated in the common
schools of that state. Mov-
ing to Missouri at tho ago
cf twenty ho read law in tho
oflico of Congressman Muck-
er then a rising attorney.
Judgo Holding has passed
most of. his iifa in the south-
west. Ho camo to Chicka-
sha long before thro -'was
any town of Anadarko and
and practiced law here in
rngtown days and moved
from Chickasha to Cement.
There in 190 he attempted
to quit a long practice of
law by settling down on one
of our fine Caddo county
farms. His retirement from
law practice was not so suc-
cessful as he would have
wished and this year finds
him prepared to transfer Iiih
activities from the bar to
the bench.
Judge Holding is a life-
long Democrat and one of
tho prominent workers in
his party in tho south end of
tho county.
His long experience in tho
legal profession his high
reputation and his services
to the party combine to
make him ii very strong
candidate who if given the
nomination will strengthen
tho county ticket.
