Oil Company
Amarillo Gentlemen Organize
To Develop Property
In Caddo County
On last Tuesday the Amarillo
Texas Oil and Gas Co. was or-
ganized under a charter granted
in Oklahoma with headquarters
and main pffioes in Anadarko
Caddo county Okla. capital stook
$400000. The Amarillo Texas
Oil & Gas Co. has 2600 aores of
land with every indication o
an immense oil yield in the field
where there is much excitement
being manifested over the gas
and oil discoveries.
The company is composed of
D. T. Wren President J. 1H.
Gouldy Seoretary F. B. Gouldy
Treasurer and Cashier all of
Amarillo and J. E Golden of
Anadarko General Manager.
$These gentlemen are all very en-
thusiastic as they not only have
a large body of land with the
best of oil indications but have
oil itself in what quantity ia to
be determined just as soon as a
well can be put down.
Mr. Wren returned from the
field bringing some of the crude
oil which is oozing out of the
ground and Mr. Golden who
has been spending a few days in
Amarillo says there is a world of
it. Weils are now being sunk in
this territory and there is much
excitement in that section of
Oklahoma over the oil and gas
find.
The Wohita Eagle of Aug. 22
announces that tht Whitewater
Oil and Gas Co. have struck a
flowing well at Gotebo Okla.
and that several big companies
from Indian Territory Penn-
sylvania and elsewhere are try-
ing to get leases and buy land:
"One of the greatest oil and
gas excitements in the history of
the discovery of the products in
Western Oklahoma is now on in
the eastern part of Caddo county.
'The third well was recently
brought in tnere with a strong
out flow discovered at a depth
of 350 feet. Land values have
leaped in value and offers of $10
000 for quarter sections haye
been refused by farmers in the
Gotebo vicinity.
"New capital Li rushing into
the field. A fourth well has
been sunk to the gas strata and
the company is preparing to
shoot the well. Experts declare
that a gusher will be the result.
"Every available quarter seo-
iion in the vioinity ia being leas-
ed for mineral purposes. It is
reported that the Standard oil
has a man on tho ground and
that some of the leases recently
made were for this company.

Was Pacific. Fort Gib-
son to be Capital
Muskogee Sept. 10. The
constitutional convention of the
proposed state of Sequoyah com-
pleted its work at noon and ad-
journed. Tho constitution as a
whole was adopted by unanim-
ous vote aftor a few amendments
were made. An appeal to con-
gress was adopted asking that
tribal schools whioh cease to
exist after Maroh next be oared
for by the national government
until the state government is es-
tablished. The chief matter of interest to-
night was tho fight over the
question of the state oapital at
Fort Gibson for six years as was
reoommendedjby the committeo.
Eufaula made a fight to have
that place substituted for Fort
Gibson. There was no other
candidate the other towns pre-
ferring to take a chance on a
vote of the people. The conven-
tion decided to looate the capital
at Fort Gibson.
The committee on nominations
roported tho following for con-
gressm on-at-largo: J. U.
Thomas Muskogee Republican;
C. L. Long Wowoka Republi-
can ;. Too M. Lollay Claromoro
Domoornt; D. C. McCurtain
South McAloster Domoorat. Mr.
Lellay is a Chorokno and Mr.
MrtCurtain is a Choctaw. Tho
report was accepted.
These candidates aro to bo
voted on at tho oonstituiion
olection and if congross admits
the state they will at once tauo
their seats in congress.
A resolution was adopted dis-
claiming and repudiating tho
claim put forth by the singlo
state associates that by their
action chiefs of tho five nations
had gone on record as forming
a statehood and that they were
not opposed to singlo statohood.
The chiefs made publio state-
ments deolaring thomsolves for-
over opposed to any act or word
looking to statehood with Okla-
homa and that before this con-
vention they wished to eo go
on record.
The date of the vote of ratific-
ation of the constitution was
changed from October 18 to
Nov. 2. It is proposed by the
campaign committee to navo a
polling plaoo at eaoh of tho 045
postoffices of the territory when
this vote is taken.
The qualification that a oounty
judge must have been a practic-
ing lawyer for five years was re-
moved today so far as tho first
election is concerned Tho term
of office of prosecuting attorney
was fixed at four years.
A supreme election board for

tho first election was created.
This board is composed of D. M.
Hodge Broken Arrow; D. N.
Robb Atoka; Carl Pursol
Muskogoo and A. B Cunning-
ham Talequah. Two of thoflo
are Democrats and two are Re
publicans. They will canvass
the constitution returns and also
tho first state election.
