dead and dying. Tho ulectlon passed
ott quietly yesterday but with tho
coming of night rioting broke out In
various sections of the city appa-
lently by preconcerted plans. Troops
on duly nnd in reserve were ordered
Into action and repeatedly charged
the mobs but apparently without ef-
fect. Memuers of the mobs used clubs
and other weapons so that tho troops
were forced to resort to arms firing
upon them killing and wounding
many.
All through tho night bands of
youths continued their demonstrations
before tho churches.
Tho elections apparently resulted
ns desired by tho partlos In control.
Three newspaper olllces were mobbed
last night.

young man was a coxswain which
