that it Is Impossible to make any
definite prediction an to what course
financial legislation wltl take at the
approaching session. It Is agreed
however by all hero that something
must bu done and belief Is expressed
that relict from legislation will bo
more prompt than has heretofore
been predicted. There aro various
opinions as to the course which
should be taken. Tho general Idea
seems to be however that the
margin of flexibility should not ex-
tend beyond twenty-five per cent of
i banks' capital and that in any
event enlarged Issue should bo so
heavily taxed as tc drive It back when
the emergency Is over. Treasury offi
cials and others most conversant
with national finances and currency
conditions throughout the country
